Description

About the position

We are looking for a temporary teacher to teach Swedish/French/Psychology/Social Studies (totaling approximately 70 percent) starting August 10, 2026. The exact subjects included in the position depend on the applicant's education and experience. This is a substitute position due to parental leave during the autumn semester of 2026. In the spring semester of 2027, additional teaching in the same subjects is likely to be available. The position involves teaching across all programs.

The role also includes mentorship.

You will be part of a teaching team with several colleagues.

We appreciate it if applicants have previous experience teaching at the upper secondary level. Important qualities include the ability to build good student relationships, collaborate with colleagues, and an interest in developing teaching methods and trying new working approaches. We also value your participation in developing the work of the subject group as well as the school's overall work.

It is considered positive if you contribute to the school's Christian profile.

The employment is based on a schedule that follows the school year.

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and the recruitment process will be completed as soon as possible. Please submit your application promptly.

About the school

LM Engström's Upper Secondary School is an independent upper secondary school with a Christian profile in the spiritual tradition of the Church of Sweden, located in central Gothenburg with the pulsating life of the city center right at its doorstep. The historic buildings have previously been used by Gothenburg's oldest upper secondary school as well as the Diocese of Gothenburg as a residence for the bishop. The cathedral – where students and staff gather each week – is just a few minutes' walk away. The school has approximately 600 students across the four programs it offers: Economics, Arts, Science, and Social Sciences. The school is a popular choice among students, meaning not all who wish to attend LM can be offered a place. The staff consists of about 60 people, the vast majority of whom are teachers. The school's teachers belong to one of five subject-based teams. Many students and staff utilize the good public transport connections afforded by the school's central location. The school is operated by the Peter Isaac Béens Education Foundation, a non-profit foundation.
