Description

We are looking for someone who, together with our cemetery and property manager, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the parish's properties and churches.

The parish has 9 churches, a chapel, and an additional twenty buildings. This position belongs to the cemetery and property management unit, where other employees work in parish and funeral services, property maintenance, and administration.

About the position

This is mainly an administrative role. Together with our cemetery and property manager, you are responsible for operation, maintenance, and planned upkeep, and have budget responsibility for these areas. You are also responsible for preparing documentation for projects and investments and presenting these to the working committee and church council. The position involves contact with relevant authorities, such as the County Administrative Board. You should have an interest in how church buildings are designed to best meet the needs of current operations.

Responsibilities include, for example:

  • Responsibility for property technical issues concerning church buildings and other properties.
  • For example, fire protection, electrical safety, inspections, etc.
  • Act as project manager for both small and large projects.
  • Handle property matters and perform cost calculations, assessments, and follow-ups, as well as manage project budgets.
  • Present and advise in working committees and church councils.
  • Handle matters regarding permits, including under the Cultural Heritage Act, the Planning and Building Act, church antiquarian compensation (KAE), and church maintenance grants (KUB).
  • Keep property documentation up to date.
  • Responsibility for contracts concerning operation and maintenance, such as fire alarms, burglar alarms, elevators, etc.


We are looking for you

  • Qualifications: who is educated as a property/building engineer or has other experience and knowledge in the construction and property industry that can be considered equivalent.

  • Who has good service and collaboration skills, is meticulous, flexible, and communicative.
  • Who has an open attitude in work tasks towards colleagues and elected officials.
  • Who has experience in energy and environmental issues.
  • Who has knowledge of laws and regulations concerning properties.
  • Who has good knowledge of Swedish and English.

Particularly meritorious

  • You have experience in renovations of older and/or culturally historic buildings and heritage environments.
  • You have knowledge of laws and regulations concerning the antiquarian field.
  • You have experience in project management, finance, and procurement.


We will place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position. We assume that you are familiar with and share the values of the Swedish Church. A driving license (B class) and access to your own car are required.

About us

Ljungby parish is centrally located in southern Småland. As part of the Swedish Church, we are responsible for the church's properties and churches. Ljungby parish consists of eight congregations with approximately 10,500 members. The parish staff works in five units. We are about 50 employees spread across congregations and administration.
