Production Technician

The production technician works operationally to support and assist production in its processes by ensuring SQDC in current workflows, and ensuring that production has updated and current instructions, standards, and production aids. The production technician role also includes actively working with continuous improvement of processes, standards, and production aids.

Primary contact for colleagues regarding quality and process issues within assigned production area.

Main Responsibilities

• Production Performance: Operationally lead and follow up production process performance.
• Support for Deviations: Support production in deviations regarding safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
• Improvement and Development: Proactively improve and develop tools, production aids, and processes.
• Reduce Scrap and Stoppages: Build capability within production to reduce the number and costs of scrap and stoppages in the flow.
• Quality and Process Issues: Primary contact for colleagues in Production regarding quality and process issues.

Specific Tasks

• Set, follow up, and report goals, key performance indicators, and action plans.
• Lead the work to understand, remedy, and prevent quality and process deviations.
• Coordinate containment for internally and externally manufactured parts.
• Lead 8D teams for deviations related to production processes.
• Create, develop, and improve internal standards, routines, instructions, and production aids.
• Ensure process improvements through e.g., LEAN methodology.
• Support production in investigating and preventing incidents and accidents.
• Collect and follow up data for production processes.
• Train, create training materials, and conduct training sessions.
• Participate in audits conducted by customers and classification societies.
• Perform internal quality inspections to make decisions on blocked materials/products.

Qualification Requirements

• Quality Management: Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 standards.
• Lean: Good knowledge of Lean and ability to lead and train teams in Lean methodology.
• Communication and Leadership: Ability to coordinate effective corrective and preventive actions through clear communication.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and AX.

Education Requirements

Higher Vocational Education (YH) Example: Process Technician - Smart Industry (400 YH credits, approx. 2 years, full-time). Production optimization, Digitalization and automation, Sustainability and resource efficiency, Quality assurance and process control.

Upper Secondary Level: Technical or industrial orientation, e.g., Industrial Technology Programme or Technology Programme. Practical courses in automation, production technology, or electrical and energy engineering are meritorious.

Or equivalent work experience.

• Internal auditor training for ISO 9000, 14001, and 45001.
• Adequate tools for problem solving and improvement.

Travel

• Occasional, to customers and suppliers.
