Counselor at IES Södra Änggården

We are now looking for someone who wants to be part of developing our school!

Internationella Engelska Skolan Krokslätt in Gothenburg is an established independent school that started in 2010. In August 2024, we moved to a fantastic new school building near Änggårdsbergen where we are also expanding our operations and changed the school's name to IES Södra Änggården. By the school year 26/27, we will be a three-track F-9 school.

At IES Södra Änggården, all adults are there for the students, where good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians are the foundation of our work. For us, it is important that you are an engaged and competent role model who continuously wants to contribute to developing the operations together with your colleagues. At IES Södra Änggården, the students are the most important thing we have, and as a counselor, you need to be driven and flexible to provide the students with the best possible schooling. We have close contact with guardians and assume that you are positive and engaged in all parts concerning our students during their time at school.

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

You must have experience in counseling or social work with children, young people, and their guardians.

You should have a responsible approach in your professional role and a professional demeanor in contacts with students, guardians, and colleagues.

As a person, you should have the ability to create and maintain good relationships.

We consider it important that you are structured and clear in your work and in your professional role and that you enjoy working both independently and in a group.

Collaboration skills, stress tolerance, and a commitment to developing the operations are fundamental qualities and abilities. As a counselor, you shall, together with students, guardians, teachers, and the student health team, work for a good psychosocial school environment. The goal of the work is for all students to reach their full potential in learning.

The work includes remedial, preventive, and promotive interventions at school. This can include, among other things, individual conversations or support for students and guardians, being an active part of the school's work against violations, harassment, or discrimination, or other customary school counseling tasks.

You will work in a cross-professional team, the student health team, where your knowledge as a counselor becomes an important part of working with students and their networks. The tasks also include collaborating with authorities and external actors for the best interest of the student.

Furthermore, it also includes some administrative tasks, such as reporting absences to home municipalities.

You will be part of an international team of teachers and other staff, where the working language is English.

We are part of the organization Internationella Engelska Skolan i Sverige AB (IES), which is one of Sweden's leading independent schools with 48 different schools in Sweden. Internationella Engelska Skolan follows the Swedish curriculum (upcoming LGR22).

The position is a one-year temporary contract starting in August. The position is 75%-100%.
