Awake Night Shift as a Personal Assistant 75-80%

Do you want to work awake night shifts plus some afternoon/evening shifts, about 75-80%?

As my personal assistant, I also hope you are flexible and can step in extra if needed.

It’s difficult for me to summarize the position as my personal assistant and everything it entails, because personal assistance is personal and based on individual conditions and needs. At the same time, my life is just as multifaceted as yours when it comes to emotions, interests, and activities. To give you some clues, my interests vary with the seasons. I enjoy everything from swimming in my pool, cooking, and running with my Marathon wheelchair, to museums, concerts, and the gym. Even though it's hard to summarize, here's an explanation of who I'm looking for:

A position as a personal assistant is varied, but with me, your role can be broadly divided into these three parts:

1. You help me with all basic needs with a strong sense of integrity and respect.

2. You are my physical support, meaning it’s an advantage if you care about your own health and enjoy exercising in your free time.

3. You are my engine in daily life and, together with me and your colleague, are responsible for planning activities and following routines.

These three parts of your professional role should be characterized by you being kind, empathetic, and communicative, because that’s how the cooperation works best. I turned 20 a few years ago, so my team is quite young, everyone around 20–30 years old.

I am young and want to live as active and social a life as possible. Even though I can’t run on my legs, I roll forward in the races I participate in. Therefore, it’s important to me that you who apply are also active and help me maintain and develop my interests. My life is like a roller coaster—some days I have a lot of energy, other days I need rest and recovery. My epilepsy is complex, and although you will learn everything you need to know during the introduction, it’s a merit if you have experience with personal assistance to understand what the role entails.

Flexibility is important to adapt the days to current needs. My friends always show up well-rested, patient, and open-minded, regardless of what conditions or obstacles I encounter in everyday life. I want to add someone who thinks the same way and doesn’t see me as a patient. I require high work ethics, which means you are reliable and treat me, your colleagues, and your profession with respect. You are also calm and understand that your contribution is life-changing for me; understanding relationship-building and variety in my life creates the best conditions for both of us. Personal assistance means living a meaningful life with self-determination, which you contribute to most through interaction.

The role of personal assistant means helping another person live their life, which requires a good ability to leave your own feelings and opinions outside of work, being eager to learn new ways of communicating, and understanding that I, like you, have a range of emotions that vary. You are equally engaged and empathetic whether I want to go out running (rolling) or need rest. There is room for you to share your interests, but conversely, you must always be positive about mine.

As you understand, I place great importance on personal suitability. Developing a relationship does not happen overnight, so I am looking for someone who truly wants to do their best for me by getting to know me and understands that long-term commitment is the key to success. Previous experience is not a requirement, though it is certainly a merit. Regardless, understanding the professional role is what matters most. Being able to work in a structured and organized manner is essential to create security and predictability for me; additionally, I value someone who is proactive and can work creatively and motivatingly with me.

Below are some practical conditions for the position:

· Start date according to agreement, preferably in May — you will begin with an introductory schedule and then be offered a position of about 75%. I am granted assistance around the clock; you will never work 24-hour shifts, but it is important to know that your night shift is awake. You have a good understanding of what it means to reverse your day-night cycle and be able to sleep during the day to arrive refreshed in the evening. If you have no previous night shift experience, you are still welcome to apply, but remember that night work does not give your day extra hours.

· My work shifts can be full days 08:00–20:00, morning shifts 5–7 hours, and afternoon shifts 5–6 hours. The awake night shifts are 12 hours, 20:00–08:00. Some time changes occur during the summer period 1/6–31/8.

· The introduction always starts with day shifts with me. This way we get to know each other well, and you learn as much as possible about my life. It is also nice and important that you get to know my other friends (assistants) so everyone can cooperate.

· Any preferences I would like you to specify in your application, e.g., preferences for vacation during the summer — we have a summer schedule from June 1 to August 31. During this period, the schedule may be a bit different.

· Unfortunately, I cannot employ people with pet allergies or tobacco users (including substitutes like white snus and e-cigarettes).

· Fluency in Swedish, spoken and written, is required, as well as swimming ability.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
