Description

Do you want to shape government accounting – in Sweden and internationally?

We are looking for someone with experience in qualified accounting issues who wants to play a central role in developing good accounting practices in the government sector. With us, you will work at the intersection of rule development, international cooperation, and knowledge dissemination – with the opportunity to influence how government accounting evolves both nationally and globally.

Your role and responsibilities

As a qualified investigator, you contribute to the agency's standard-setting work in government accounting. You help develop, interpret, and maintain the regulatory framework for government accounting to ensure uniform and appropriate application across the entire public administration.

The work includes:

  • driving and participating in rule development for government accounting (primarily through developing regulations and general guidelines for the Ordinance on Annual Reports and Budget Documentation)
  • providing advisory services to agencies
  • planning and conducting training and competence development initiatives
  • developing support and guidance, including on the Forum for Financial Management
  • actively participating in international contexts (e.g., within the EU and OECD)
  • monitoring international standard-setting for the public sector (primarily IPSAS) and relating it to our national rules for the government sector.

You work independently but in close collaboration with colleagues, other agencies, and the Government Offices. The role offers great variation and the opportunity to delve into complex and highly topical accounting issues, particularly in relation to international developments.

You will be part of the Department for Efficient Administration, a large analysis department at the agency. An important task is to conduct investigations on behalf of the government. In your role, you will contribute accounting expertise to this work as needed.

Your background and skills

We are looking for someone with:

  • a university degree in economics with a focus on accounting or equivalent
  • several years of experience in qualified accounting work
  • excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience working in an international context
  • experience in government accounting
  • experience delivering training or presentations.

Your personal qualities

The role demands strong analytical skills and judgment. You are structured, self-driven, and able to move issues forward even in complex contexts. You are curious and stay updated in your field, while being collaborative and building trusting relationships – both nationally and internationally. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

About the employment

This is a permanent full-time position, starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date is negotiable.

Our offer

With us, you get a unique opportunity to hold a standard-setting and strategically important role in the government, represent Sweden in international contexts, and contribute to the development of government accounting.

We strive to be a modern agency with technical solutions that facilitate daily work, including developing our own AI tools. We are located in pleasant premises in central Stockholm. There is an opportunity to work partly remotely.
