Description

Supervisor for summer job teenagers in Marstrand

Do you want to make a difference for young people while contributing to a vibrant church life in a unique environment? We are now looking for an engaged and responsible supervisor to work with and support our summer job teenagers in Marstrand during the summer.

About the assignment

During the summer months, Marstrand welcomes many visitors – tourists, parishioners, and curious guests from near and far. The church and parish hall are important meeting places where people seek knowledge, community, and rest. To offer a welcoming and lively experience, we have four teenagers working summer jobs every year.

As a supervisor, you have overall responsibility for these youths in their daily work. Your task is to create structure, security, and support so they can grow in their roles, perform their tasks well, and have a positive experience of their early working life.

Working hours are Monday–Friday 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Duties

As a supervisor, you act as a team leader, support person, and adult role model for the teenagers. This involves both practical and relational tasks. The role includes:

  • Introducing the teenagers to the workplace, their tasks, and routines
  • Ensuring that work is planned and carried out in a structured and effective way
  • Being available for questions, support, and guidance during the workday
  • Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment
  • Helping the teenagers develop responsibility, cooperation skills, and service orientation
  • Following up work continuously and providing constructive feedback

The teenagers' work is varied and mainly involves two areas:

Guiding and hospitality in the church

The teenagers meet visitors in the church, welcome them, answer questions, and provide basic guiding about the church's history and activities. Here, your support is important to help the teenagers feel confident in meeting people of different ages and expectations.

The parish hall – coffee and service

In the parish hall, the teenagers prepare, serve, and sell coffee and other refreshments to visitors. They handle simple cash management, maintain order, and offer good hospitality. As a supervisor, you support them in service work, cooperation, and practical routines related to hygiene and safety.

You participate in practical work yourself when needed, but your main focus is supervision, overview, and support.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and has the ability to create safe relationships. You are clear, responsive, and engaged, and find it easy to meet people from different backgrounds and with different needs.

You do not need formal teaching or supervisor training, but we appreciate experience in one of the following:

  • Work with young people, for example in schools, leisure activities, associations, or church
  • Team leadership or supervision
  • Service professions where hospitality and responsibility are central

We highly value personal qualities. To thrive and function well in this assignment, we appreciate if you:

  • Are confident in yourself and can take responsibility
  • Have good cooperation skills and a solution-oriented approach
  • Are pedagogical and can explain in a clear and encouraging way
  • Have patience and understanding for young people's different experiences
  • Can set boundaries while being warm and supportive

It is meritorious if you have ties to church activities or share the values that characterize an open and inclusive parish life.

What we offer

We offer a meaningful summer assignment where you get the opportunity to make a concrete difference for both teenagers and visitors. You become part of a community where fellowship, warmth, and responsibility are central values.

With us you get:

  • A varied and social job in a unique environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to young people's development and work experience
  • Collaboration with engaged colleagues and volunteers
  • A workplace where human encounters are in focus

The assignment is temporary during the summer, with fixed working hours Monday–Friday 10 AM–6 PM.

About the workplace

Marstrand is a lively summer destination with rich history and many visitors. The church and parish hall are important places for both peace and meetings. Our operations aim to be open to everyone – regardless of faith, background, or life situation – and are characterized by respect, care, and professionalism.

Application

We look forward to your application where you tell us about yourself, your experience, and why you are interested in the assignment. Selection and interviews are conducted continuously.

Welcome with your application – together we create a memorable and meaningful summer for both teenagers and visitors in Marstrand.
