Description
The Åland Environmental and Health Protection Authority (ÅMHM) announces a temporary position at 50% (approximately 18.5 hours per week) for six months with possible extension. Flexible working hours are possible. We are looking for someone who wants to work in a very exciting and varied environment with good opportunities for development and good employment conditions regarding leave and salary.
Qualifications:
The main focus of the position is supervision of animal welfare. As an inspector, you work mainly under veterinary supervision. As a licensed veterinarian, you work under your own responsibility in close collaboration with the regular animal welfare veterinarian, and there is also the opportunity to participate in the authority's other veterinary work areas and on-call duty.
Incoming cases are processed according to the Administrative Procedure Act and registered in our case management system EDP Vision. Therefore, good computer skills are a prerequisite for managing the work. Within our field, we handle both Åland legislation and national and EU legislation, which means you are expected to be able to comprehend legal texts.
ÅMHM handles supervision, assessment, information, and preventive activities in the areas of environment, health, healthcare, and social care, and offers veterinary care 24/7 and laboratory services in food, agriculture, and environment. The authority is an expert agency with approximately 40 employees.
We are looking for someone who thrives working in a varied pace and is well-organized and flexible. You can make objective and factual assessments and set clear requirements. You can also create and maintain good customer contacts and resolve any conflicts in a constructive manner. The work requires integrity, collaboration skills, and good judgment.
Qualification requirements for the position are either a veterinary medicine degree (licensed veterinarian) or another university or college education with a suitable focus. A B driving license is required. If desired, we can also help with contacts and procedures to apply for veterinary licensure and temporary authorization in Finland.
Are you not qualified? For positions within the Government of Åland and its subordinate authorities, it is possible to apply for an exemption in special cases. More information is available on the Government of Åland's pages here about how to apply for an exemption, the limited possibility of being granted an exemption, and the fee for processing the application.
The authority's administrative language is Swedish, and we assume that you express yourself well in both speech and writing.
Relevant experience from animal welfare and/or other administrative work is meritorious. The group composition is crucial for the work to run smoothly, and therefore we place great emphasis on good collaboration skills and personal suitability. We look forward to hearing more about you in a possible interview.
Salary
Basic salary for full-time according to the applicable collective agreement (5522 per month for licensed veterinarians, and 4023 per month for inspectors including general supplement. Possible age supplements may apply). On-call compensation, on-call allowance, and compensatory leave apply for veterinarians participating in on-call duty.
