We are looking for a principal for our school – a principal who wants to lift, fly, and land together with us.

Nils Holgerssonskolan is an independent school with a cultural profile in Simrishamn. There are 214 students here from preschool class to grade 9, and we have a staff of around 40 engaged employees. Since 1996, our goal has been to offer a school where all students have the opportunity to grow and develop, both academically and creatively.

The school is run as a parent cooperative and has strong commitment from both staff and guardians.

School and after-school activities take place in two buildings. At "Little Nisse" there are grades F-4 and the after-school program, and at "Östra Park" or "Big Nisse" there are grades 5-9. We also have a school cafeteria and kitchen, located along the beautiful Österlen coast, where our chef and kitchen staff prepare meals from scratch with carefully selected, sustainable ingredients.

Your mission as principal

As principal, you have overall responsibility for leading, coordinating, and developing the school's educational activities, staff, finances, and quality. You work closely with the school's board – consisting of engaged guardians – and become a central part of the school community.

We are looking for someone who wants to continue developing our school while being a present, clear, and warm leader.

Your main areas of responsibility:

• Lead and develop the school's educational activities according to the Education Act and curriculum
• Staff responsibility and work environment efforts
• Create structure, peace for work, and confidence in the future in daily operations
• Practice trust-based leadership that builds relationships, joy, and learning
• Responsibility for budget, follow-up, and reporting to the board
• Close collaboration with parent-based board
• Be present in everyday life – with students, guardians, and employees
• Drive, lead, and follow up systematic quality work
• Collaborate and participate in student health team, school administration, and contact and coordination with external actors
• Collaborate with our colleagues in other local independent schools

We are looking for someone who

• Is a principal or deputy principal today and loves to lead and improve
• Has completed the principal training program
• Is a licensed teacher with experience in leadership in primary school
• Has good knowledge of school governing documents, law, and finance
• Has experience with budget responsibility and organizational development
• Is a visionary and present leader with a warm hand and clear direction
• Sees the small in the big – and the big in the small
• Thrives in a smaller organization where collaboration is key
• Wants to help build a school culture where courage, culture, and participation are central
• Has interest in, or experience of, cultural pedagogy, creative work, or aesthetic learning processes
