Description

Experienced and explorative teacher for Framtidsspår in Gothenburg – working with young adults

Would you like to work as a teacher in a setting where teaching, relationships and social issues are intertwined – and where your work can help break isolation and create new paths into studies and community life?

We are now looking for an experienced and explorative Swedish teacher for Framtidsspår – an operation where adult education meets social work.

About us as employer

Ljungskile Folk High School is a place where people meet, learn and develop together. We have a strong focus on Bildung, relationships, and participants' active involvement.

As an employee, you become part of a context where:

  • teaching and relational work are closely intertwined
  • several professions collaborate around each participant
  • the school is part of a larger societal mission

With us, there is a clear desire to make a difference – to create conditions for participation where it is not always self-evident.

About Framtidsspår

Framtidsspår is a small-scale folk high school course for young adults (18–26 years) who have not completed upper secondary school, run as a general course. Here, adult education and social work meet in an activity aimed at young adults in complex life situations. We work with participants who often have experiences of interrupted studies, mental illness, neuropsychiatric disabilities, or periods of isolation.

With us, there is an opportunity to complete upper secondary school within a general course – in a context where studies, support, and life situation are linked.

Teaching takes place in small groups with a high teacher-to-student ratio and in close collaboration with a cross-professional team consisting of teachers, social workers, study and career counselors, curators, and participant support.

We work flexibly and relationally – with a holistic view where issues of daily life, health, relationships, and the future are part of learning.

About the assignment

As a teacher at Framtidsspår, you are both a pedagogue and a relationship bearer.

You teach primarily Swedish, preferably in combination with another subject, and contribute to creating a learning environment where participants can find motivation, context, and trust in their own ability. You are comfortable collaborating with other educators in the classroom and are curious about working thematically and across subjects.

You meet participants who often find themselves at a stage where trust, direction, and participation need to be rebuilt – and where school can become a crucial place.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with alternative and creative approaches to learning, and who sees the value of sometimes taking different paths to enable participants to approach what is difficult.

The assignment includes:

  • planning and delivering teaching, often thematically and interdisciplinary
  • creating structure, clarity, and flexibility in participants' study situations
  • working relationally and building trust over time
  • collaborating with colleagues and other professions around participants' development
  • contributing to the development of Framtidsspår's pedagogical approach

We are looking for someone who

is a confident and experienced educator – and at the same time is motivated by working with issues related to participation, exclusion, and pathways back to studies and community life.

You:

  • have pedagogical education and/or relevant subject competence
  • have competence in Swedish
  • have teaching experience
  • can create structure, clarity, and progression in a group with diverse conditions
  • work relationally and see the whole person

At the same time, we see that you:

  • want to contribute to breaking isolation and creating contexts where more people can participate
  • are curious about developing new working methods and finding more paths into learning
  • thrive in a setting where teaching, support, and collaboration are linked
  • want to help shape and develop the operation together with others

It is meritorious if you

  • have a folk high school teacher degree
  • also preferably have English or Social Studies
  • have experience from folk high school, adult education, or non-profit organizations
  • have worked with young adults with mental illness, neuropsychiatric disabilities, or complex life situations
  • have special education competence
  • have experience with thematic or cross-disciplinary work
  • have experience with cross-professional collaboration
  • have worked with creative or alternative approaches to learning

To thrive with us

we believe that you:

  • see the relationship as the foundation for learning
  • have a commitment to participants who do not always find their place in the education system
  • can stay with what is complex and sometimes difficult
  • have the ability to create safety, structure, and trust
  • want to work closely with colleagues and share responsibility

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
