Special Education Teacher for Intellectual Disabilities at Adapted Upper Secondary School Grillska Liljeholmen
Description
Apply to our special education teacher team at an adapted upper secondary school
Our adapted upper secondary school is growing, and we are now looking for you who want to work with us in our unit that shares premises with the upper secondary school in Liljeholmen. For the fall of 2026, we need to expand with several colleagues who are licensed and have special education teacher competence in intellectual disabilities. We are currently recruiting teachers mainly in children and leisure, Swedish, mathematics, physical education and health, history, and social studies.
You have a strong focus on students and are a relational teacher with the ability to adapt your teaching to the students' needs. Together with your colleagues, you work with collegial learning and systematic pedagogical development. As a special education teacher with us, you meet students in the national programs of health, care and nursing, as well as commerce and service. Mapping students' study situations, support needs, and adaptations is part of the role. Communication with guardians and external contacts with authorities also occur. We want you to be driven by creating good contacts with the surrounding community.
The adapted upper secondary school unit is in a development stage as well as in an expansion phase. This gives you great opportunities to help shape routines and how the operations should develop. Our schools work based on a strong value foundation for young people's community engagement and everyone's equal worth, and it is therefore important to us that you share our values.
Qualifications
To apply, you need to have completed your special education teacher training for intellectual disabilities as an addition to your teaching license. We also welcome if you have experience working in an adapted upper secondary school.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, confident, communicative, perceptive, and can choose different approaches to find solutions. You are unpretentious and thrive in an environment where we collaborate and help each other to develop the professional profiles and the teaching.
You should enjoy working with young people in general and be driven to support their development towards stronger self-esteem and empowerment. We value your ability to meet students based on their knowledge and needs as well as the ability to create good relationships. It is important to us that you collaborate well with your colleagues and that you become a positive force in our work towards a more humane society.

About our school organization
The Grillska upper secondary schools are run by Sweden's largest ideologically driven principal at the upper secondary level. Being ideologically driven means we are operated in foundation form as a non-profit organization, and we are also non-confessional and non-political. The foundation has a total of approximately 3,000 students, of which just over 60 attend our adapted upper secondary school in Liljeholmen. We also have locations in Eskilstuna, Liljeholmen, Kungsholmen, Uppsala, Västerås, and Örebro.
We are driven by our vision of a more humane society, and with us, everyone receives daily world affairs conversations and engagement training. The City Mission's School Foundation strives for extensive cooperation with the surrounding community and is represented in several national contexts.
