Set Carpenter

Regionteatern Blekinge Kronoberg is a performing arts institution covering two regions. The theatre's mission is to produce, organize, and stimulate performing arts for children, youth, and adults. The operations include in-house productions, co-productions, educational activities, residencies, guest performances, and touring activities.

Regionteatern is a limited company owned by Region Kronoberg, Region Blekinge, and Växjö Municipality. The theatre has its rehearsal spaces, studios, workshops, and administration in Växjö.

Regionteatern's activities include theatre, dance, and various events touring schools, community centres, and other venues, primarily in Kronoberg and Blekinge, as well as at its own stages in Växjö and Karlshamn.

Regionteatern seeks an experienced set carpenter for a temporary position

The main tasks are to manufacture scenery and some props for our productions, as well as to drive the development of Regionteatern's workshop.

A set carpenter works closely with the set designer, transforming ideas into reality. The position is part of the theatre's technical department, but the work involves close collaboration with the technical producer. The work is performed both independently and together with other production departments, requiring creativity and curiosity to find smart solutions.

Main areas of work:

• Responsible for scenery construction and also some props for the theatre's productions.

• Interpret, create, and realise the set designer's visions within established frameworks.

• Propose material choices based on presented models.

• Participate in preparing drawings and construction documentation based on set design models.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations regarding work with machinery in the scenery workshop.

• Manage scenery stores, furniture stores, stage cloths, and dance mats, as well as certain stage equipment maintenance.

• Carry out necessary transport for the operations.

• Practical tasks within Regionteatern's premises.

Qualifications:

• Training in fine/interior carpentry or equivalent work experience.

• Good knowledge of construction, load-bearing capacity, and materials.

• Basic knowledge of welding and metalwork.

• Proficient with various types of workshop equipment and machinery.

• Skilled in reading drawings.

• Knowledge of SketchUp and Office 365.

• A valid B driver's licence is required.

Type of employment:

This is a temporary full-time position (100%) until 30 June 2027.

Start date: 3 August 2026 or according to agreement.
