Description

Do you want to work for a safer society – both preventively and operationally? We are now looking for employees for a position where you will work with inspections in our prevention department while also being part of the operational activities by working as a firefighter.

This position has been created to meet our increased need for conducting inspections while strengthening our operational staffing. By combining these tasks, we create a role that contributes to increased collaboration, better resource utilization, and more pathways into the profession of firefighter.

With us, you get the opportunity to both prevent accidents – and respond if they do occur.

Position Description

The position is placed in the prevention department and consists of a combination of accident prevention tasks and work in our operational organization. The tasks in the prevention department will primarily consist of conducting inspections based on the Swedish Act on Protection against Accidents LSO, and in the rescue department you will work as a firefighter. The work in the rescue department is demand-driven and planned based on leave and other absences.

This position will not include any operational areas of responsibility. Instead, you will be given the opportunity to work with prevention tasks even during your operational shifts, as long as it is not hindered by drills, training, or other tasks related to shift work.

By combining the work of a firefighter with inspection work, you will be able to benefit from experiences from both operational areas. The building technical knowledge you gain during inspections can be used during emergency response, just as experiences from fire events and real examples can provide good conditions for making reasonableness assessments during inspections.

The position will be evaluated continuously and is likely to evolve based on the experiences we gain. It is therefore important that you enjoy that not everything is predetermined from the start, but rather see an opportunity in being able to help develop this position. Your experiences and insights will be an important part of the development work. A high degree of flexibility will also be required to thrive in this role.

Description of JRF

Jämtland's Emergency Services Association is responsible for rescue services and preventive activities according to the Act on Protection against Accidents in all eight municipalities of Jämtland County. We have 35 fire stations and 9 fire brigade units, and the majority of our approximately 600 employees are part-time firefighters. Full-time staff are primarily at the fire station in Östersund, which will also be your main workplace.

Our Offer

Jämtland's Emergency Services Association offers a developing and varied position in an organization characterized by professionalism, cooperation, and commitment. With us, you get a unique opportunity to combine preventive work with operational activities, providing you with a broad professional role where you both contribute to preventing accidents and participate when society needs emergency rescue efforts.

You will be a part of both the prevention department and the rescue department, where you will receive support from experienced colleagues while also having significant responsibility and the opportunity to influence the development of the work. The position offers variety between independent work, official authority exercises, and practical operational work in a shift environment.

We value development and innovation, and you will have the opportunity to help shape this combined role over time. As an employee with us, you are offered wellness time during working hours, free work clothing, collective agreements, and good opportunities for work-life balance.

About You

We are looking for someone who is motivated by a varied professional role where you combine analytical and preventive work with operational work as a firefighter. You thrive both with official authority exercises, administrative tasks, and with working in emergency response where cooperation, decisive action, and flexibility are crucial.

As a person, you are self-driven, responsible, and meticulous, while also being easy to collaborate with and contributing to a safe and professional workgroup. You have a good ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and can adapt your approach based on different situations and target groups.

Since the position is under development, we are looking for someone who is flexible, solution-oriented, and sees opportunities in being part of shaping new working methods. You appreciate variety, have an interest in both preventive safety work and operational rescue services, and want to contribute to a safer society through both of these important tasks.
