Business Controller

We are looking for someone who wants to help create financial conditions in an organization where the mission spans generations.

As a Business Controller, you work close to operations and strategically with financial management in the Diocese of Visby. You are a qualified support to parishes and congregations and contribute to creating stable and sustainable financial conditions.

The role includes:

working with budget, forecast, and follow-up

managing ongoing bookkeeping and quality assurance

producing analyses and decision-making materials

ensuring quality in financial statements and reporting

supporting and developing financial management in congregations and parishes

participating in long-term planning and sustainable financial development

You work closely with the finance manager, colleagues at the diocesan office, as well as clergy and other key persons in the organization.

About you

We are looking for someone with a university education in economics or equivalent and experience in qualified financial work within budget, financial statements, forecasting, and analysis. You have a good understanding of operational management and financial relationships. Experience from the Swedish Church or other non-profit activities is a merit.

As a person, you are analytical, structured, and quality-conscious. You are communicative and confident in dialogue with different target groups, while having good collaboration skills and a unpretentious approach. You thrive in a role where you get to combine structure with development and contribute to improvements over time.

About the work team

Your workplace is the diocesan office in the heart of Visby's inner city, an environment where history and the present meet. Here, around 25 employees work in various subject areas.

The diocesan office is a dynamic workplace with close contact with congregations on Gotland and with the Swedish Church at the national level. As a Business Controller, you play an important role in this interplay.

The Diocese of Visby is located on Gotland and includes 9 parishes and 39 congregations. It also includes the Swedish Church abroad, with activities in about 40 locations around the world. Together, we work for a living church, where people have the opportunity to meet faith, community, and meaning, and are equipped to serve both God and their fellow human beings in their daily lives.
