Description
The Parliamentary Ombudsmen seek legally qualified experts
The Parliamentary Ombudsmen seek two or more assessors from courts of appeal or administrative courts of appeal for a fixed-term employment of a six-year appointment.
The mission of the Parliamentary Ombudsmen is to oversee that those exercising public authority comply with laws and other regulations. The supervision is particularly focused on ensuring compliance with the constitutional requirements of impartiality and objectivity, as well as respect for individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms. The primary aim of the Ombudsmen's activities is to promote legal certainty in public administration. For information about the Ombudsmen's activities, see .
We employ around 90 people, of which approximately 70 are lawyers. The operations are divided into four supervision departments, a unit supporting the ombudsmen in their role as the national preventive mechanism, and an administrative department. Each supervision department has two or three heads of division responsible for their respective subject areas, about ten legal or subject matter experts, and two secretaries.
The Ombudsmen offer varied and intellectually demanding work that involves qualified legal assessments. The work is independent, with personal responsibility for the investigation of cases assigned to you. The tasks mainly consist of investigating complaints from the public and, on your own or by proposing decisions, making determinations in these cases. It also includes participating in inspections of authorities and preparing opinions on legislative referrals.
The work as a legally qualified expert imposes high demands on legal skill, including a very good analytical ability. You must be able to quickly identify legally relevant issues and have the ability to independently make necessary priorities while possessing high performance capacity. You must have a very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing. We expect all employees to consider the entirety of the operation and actively contribute to its development.
About the employment: We offer a fixed-term employment of a six-year appointment. For these, the salary and benefits agreement for experts (specialists) and the Villkorsavtal-T for the Riksdag Administration apply. A prerequisite for employment is that you are on leave from a court.
Start date is by agreement. The position is located in Stockholm in centrally situated offices.
The Ombudsmen want to offer an attractive workplace that is free from discrimination and provides equal opportunities for everyone. When operations permit, remote work up to two days per week is possible.
For further information about the position, contact heads of division Stefan Nyman or Sara Johannesson. Union representatives are available for SACO, Mattias Karlsson, and for ST, Lucie Andersson. They can be reached via the switchboard at 08-786 51 00.
Written expressions of interest, in Swedish, with a CV and any referenced documents must be received by the Parliamentary Ombudsmen (JO) no later than May 27. Enter reference number "ADM 118–2026" in your application. Interviews are planned to be conducted June 8–10.
