Malmö Opera's decoration workshops are located in large, beautiful premises in Västra Hamnen and include set painting, carpentry, upholstery, metalwork, special effects, and project planning. Approximately 25 theatre sets are built here each year for Malmö Opera, Malmö City Theatre, and Skåne Dance Theatre. We are now looking for a skilled and experienced carpenter for our decoration workshop. Welcome with your application!

Job Description

In the role of carpenter, you will work with professional colleagues in the creation of scenography for our productions within the time and budget frames set for each production. No two productions are alike. Alongside strong carpentry skills, you also need the ability to read and understand construction drawings and, based on these, be flexible in finding your own solutions with an understanding of the whole. The position also includes some cost estimation and construction of individual set elements.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with relevant carpentry training or many years of experience as a carpenter with very good knowledge of materials. You are a creative and skilled craftsman with a high level of problem-solving ability who is not afraid of new challenges. We work on a project basis, and you can organize your projects in a structured way.

All work is carried out in close collaboration with the other units in the workshop and performance technology, so we place great importance on your ability to cooperate.

Experience in performing arts, CNC work, and project management is meritorious.

A B driving license is required.
