1006 Personal Assistant, Substitute as Needed and for Summer.

Do you want to work as a personal assistant for a 13-year-old boy living with his family in Strängnäs? We are looking for an assistant to cover absences and holidays. As a substitute, you need to be able to work both day shifts and awake night shifts.

About the Position

Our client is a 13-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and autism-like behavior. He uses a wheelchair but can also move without it with support. He does not have his own speech, so you need to be perceptive and attentive to his signals in order to understand him. He needs help with everything in his daily life. During weekdays, the boy attends school and does not have assistance, but on holidays and days off, he has assistance also during the day. The boy loves everything that spins and rolls and can spend hours rolling large stones; he is also great at using YouTube and loves his tablet.

The work is based on respect for the individual's self-determination and integrity. A thorough and clear introduction applies upon employment, so that you as an assistant feel secure, but most importantly so that the client feels safe with you. There are cats in the home, so you should not be allergic to cats.

Who We Are Looking For

Preferably, you have experience in personal assistance and working with children under the Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). You should be loyal, flexible, and mature in your approach to various situations, both demanding and less demanding. You should be able to adapt your pedagogical approach to the individual. Experience with Epilepsy, low-arousal approach, and challenging behavior is meritorious.

As a personal assistant, you work in the boy's family home, so it is important that you are good at communicating, have a respectful and empathetic approach.

Since the boy does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, it requires you to be creative, attentive, and observant of small signals. Experience in personal assistance is meritorious, but personal suitability and care experience will weigh most heavily. Please include in your application when you are available for the position.

As the boy is under 18 years old, a criminal record extract must be presented before employment.
