Housing Support Worker for Individual Unit
Description
Mikaelgården offers housing for children and young people under the framework of LSS (Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and HVB (residential care for children and young people), and operates a primary school and a primary special education school.
We are a non-profit curative educational organization and our school has a Waldorf orientation.
At Mikaelgården, we have created a therapeutic environment for children who need more than temporary individual interventions. The students, who are of primary school age, come from all over the country and exhibit a broad spectrum of various mental and social functional variations. Common diagnoses include ADD, ADHD, Autism, ODD, and Tourette's syndrome.
Mikaelgården is located in a scenic area just outside the center of Järna. Teaching facilities, assembly hall, dining hall, and residences are all located on the same premises, forming a cohesive community, which creates a special sense of security and belonging.
We offer a warm and pleasant atmosphere with a clear daily rhythm. Here, opportunities are provided for social training, as well as practice in everything related to daily living skills. Our fundamental philosophy is to strengthen the child's innate abilities, and we are convinced that there are great developmental possibilities within each individual. We work individually with every child to create security, wholeness, context, and development.
Mikaelgården has seven residences in close proximity to the school. Each residence houses 4-5 children/young people. Three of our residences are licensed under LSS and four are licensed for HVB.
Each individual residence has a unit manager who, together with a team of 6-7 staff, is responsible for "their" residence. Great consideration is given to each student's individual needs. All children have their own contact person in the residence.
In our unit, we work with paired staffing and encounter daily situations that require low-arousal responses, clear conflict management, and the ability to handle threats, insults, loud screaming, and physically violent aggression. We are a strong team that supports each other – and now we are looking for you who want to become part of us.
Example of tasks
· Work practically with low-arousal responses and conflict management daily
· Join the child on trips during school holidays (5 holidays per year)
· Winter: snowboarding and skiing in the mountains
· Summer: surfing in Denmark
· Take turns in the team to travel with the child
· Follow the team's shared approach and common thread
We offer
· Clear guidance and a team that supports each other
· Opportunity to grow in one of Sweden's most demanding yet meaningful roles
· Training in low-arousal responses – so you have the right tools for encounters with the child
