We are looking for a confident, clear, and engaged unit manager for the Cultural and Leisure Committee Office, one of seven units within the Cultural and Leisure Administration. You will lead a unit with 14 employees who have different competencies and areas of work such as art, culture, sports, outdoor life, and civil society issues – from independent specialist roles to more collaborative assignments – which requires leadership that can create coherence, direction, and peace at work.
You will report directly to the administrative manager and be part of the administration's management team together with six other unit managers and an administrative economist. Support functions such as a communicator and HR consultant also participate in the management team.
Your new job - duties
As unit manager for the Cultural and Leisure Committee Office, you are responsible for personnel, operations, and finances. You work closely with employees, offering support and coaching, while also creating conditions for employees to take responsibility, show initiative, and make their own decisions.
You are responsible for creating the greatest possible value in terms of meaningful leisure time for residents and a rich cultural and leisure life in the municipality based on the unit's personnel and financial resources.
You will work closely with the political committee together with the administrative manager. You ensure that the Cultural and Leisure Committee receives relevant and well-founded decision-making materials and that decisions are implemented and followed up in a structured manner.
You drive development and promote collaborations with other units and administrations as well as with external stakeholders such as various associations, federations, and organizations in the cultural and leisure sector.
Your competence
Requirements
- Documented experience in leadership and development work
- A university degree in e.g. social sciences or public administration, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
- Experience working in a politically governed organization, which entails a good understanding of municipal operations and processes, the Municipal Act, and other regulations
- Ability to create direction, structure, and expectations in broad and development-oriented assignments
- Good ability to create and maintain good relationships and create value-adding collaborations
Meritorious
- Good knowledge of cultural, sports, association, and civil society issues
- Worked in the cultural and leisure sector
