Description of Operations
The technician position is placed in the Technical Department of the Community Building and Technology Administration. The department is responsible for providing residents with services in the areas of water/wastewater, streets/waste, and fiber. As a technician in water and wastewater, you are part of the Technical Department's Water and Wastewater Unit. About 20 people work here, jointly operating and developing the operation and maintenance of our water and wastewater treatment plants within the municipality. Development issues are important to us, and the goal is to further strengthen Gällivare as an attractive municipality to live and work in. We continuously work on improvements in work processes and in collaboration with internal and external actors. You will be part of a team that ensures our municipality is kept in a safe and good condition with good service to our citizens.
Duties
As a technician in our water and wastewater plants, you are a significant part of daily operations, which form the basis for good delivery and functionality in our water and wastewater pipeline system. The work involves both monitoring and practical work at the facilities. As a technician, you will work with other colleagues on everything from operational optimization to corrective maintenance and inspections within our plants. On-call duty is included in the work.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a technical education or equivalent skills gained through previous work experience. You have a good ability to troubleshoot technical installations and carry out simple repairs. You have basic administrative skills and computer literacy as a user in various support systems. To thrive as a technician, you should be able to work flexibly and adapt to unforeseen events in operations. Being committed and able to take initiative is important. You must have the willingness to take responsibility and see what needs to be done. Since the work is largely practical, you must enjoy working with your hands. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. As a technician, you will have many contacts both internally and externally, so you should be cooperative and service-oriented. The position is characterized by responsibility, development, commitment, cooperation, and problem-solving. Within the framework of the national minority languages act, Gällivare municipality is an administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
