Description
Temporary position: Study and Career Counselor for adults at a folk high school
Are you interested in supporting people in their future planning and helping adults succeed in their studies? Skurup and Fridhem Folk High School in Malmö is now looking for an employee for a parental leave cover as a study and career counselor.
Who are we?
Skurup and Fridhem Folk High School is a young organization that has been operating for nine years. We are located in the heart of Malmö, in the Sofielund area. With us, you can study Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), a study-motivating folk high school course (SMF), and general courses at elementary and upper secondary levels. The school has approximately 470 participants, and the vast majority have Swedish as a second language.
Our workplace has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a great sense of community. To fit in with us, you need to be a team player who thrives in an organization where everyone contributes to the whole.
Who are we looking for and what does the assignment involve?
We are looking for a study and career counselor who is passionate about guiding adults. You are grounded in adult education and understand our unique and important mission.
As a person, you are engaged and passionate about our target group and equal access to education. You value working in an environment where you have the opportunity to contribute to bridging educational gaps and enjoy supporting and empowering individuals. You are good at creating and maintaining relationships with both participants and colleagues.
As a study and career counselor with us, you will work with all the school's courses, but primarily with our SMF course and the Folkis Ung project. You will be responsible for intake and exit interviews, mapping, creating action plans, and providing support and mentorship during the study period. You will teach lessons twice a week in Folkis Ung and SMF, where you work with group guidance and conduct study visits.
The work also includes administration and documentation. You will create materials such as information sheets and brochures about the school's courses, which requires you to have good organizational skills and strong digital competence. You will also participate in the school's collaboration with other stakeholders and in recruiting new participants.
You will work closely with the project management, so we are looking for someone who is creative, innovative, and contributes ideas. You enjoy working independently, identifying needs, and finding solutions.
The role also involves psychosocial work. To enhance participants' opportunities to succeed in their studies, we work preventively and health-promotingly. You should feel comfortable meeting people in challenging situations. An important part of motivating further studies is future planning, and in your role, you will conduct motivational conversations and help participants discover various opportunities. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities and are looking for someone who is open, secure, and has a strong ability to build relationships.
We are looking for someone with education and experience in study and career counseling. Work experience is considered a plus. Guidance from another study and career counselor is available, and we also welcome recent graduates.
This is a unique opportunity to both work closely with participants and contribute to the organization's development.
The position is a full-time (100%) parental leave cover.
