MUSIC TEACHER AT SOLDALASKOLAN

We are looking for a certified music teacher for years 4–9

Soldalaskolan is a K–9 school with approximately 550 students. In recent years, the school has developed its teaching to meet a growing proportion of multilingual students. Teaching is characterized by structure, language- and knowledge-developing approaches in a collegial learning environment.

We are now looking for a music teacher for grades 4–9. In this position, instruction is carried out in half-classes, which enables active music-making, clear leadership, and continuous feedback to students, with a clear language-aware teaching approach.

Your responsibilities

- Plan, implement, and follow up on music education for grades 4–9 according to Lgr22

- Be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the school's musical elements in common activities such as graduations and Lucia celebrations, and develop collaboration with El Sistema.

- Structure teaching so that all students participate actively regardless of prior knowledge

- Conduct teaching in half-classes to enable practical work and individual feedback

- Assess students' knowledge in relation to the music curriculum

- Create clear frameworks and a calm working environment in both theoretical and practical learning environments

- Collaborate with colleagues and student health services based on students' needs

- Participate in the work team's efforts to develop teaching

Who are you?

You have experience teaching music and can lead practical elements in the classroom. You plan lessons that engage students and adapt content so that students with different prior knowledge can participate.

You work systematically in teaching and create clear frameworks that enable both language-aware teaching as well as a safe and calm learning environment, even during practical moments.

Requirements:

- Teaching license with qualification in music, or ongoing teacher education specializing in music that will be completed within 12 months

- Experience teaching music

- Experience planning and conducting teaching based on governing documents and current curriculum

- Experience leading practical elements in the subject of music

- Ability to adapt teaching so that students with different prior knowledge can participate actively

- Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating language-aware teaching

- Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish

Meritorious:

- Experience teaching both years 4–6 and 7–9

- Experience teaching in full and half classes

- Competence in several musical forms of expression, e.g., instruments, singing, digital music production

- Experience teaching multilingual student groups

- Experience creating structure and a calm working environment in practical learning settings

Personal qualities:

- You lead teaching clearly in practical moments

- You create structure and a calm working environment in an active learning environment

- You get students to participate regardless of prior knowledge
