Skipper on archipelago boat (Söderköping)
Description
As captain of M/S Athene, you are responsible for safely navigating and maneuvering the vessel, as well as for passengers and crew. We traffic the Göta Canal from Söderköping and further out into the Östergötland archipelago every day of the week. In addition to regular tours, we also run special trips such as seafood cruises, corporate events, and weddings.
You get to work on one of Sweden's most classic passenger routes with varied traffic and close contact with guests. The work consists of daytime tours of about 3–5 hours per trip. On Saturdays, two tours are run consecutively. The total working time is usually around 5–7 hours per day. The longer tour has a planned stop in Stegeborg for lunch and passenger handling.
Traffic operates on fixed routes, making the service easy to get into even for new officers.
M/S Athene is 81 gross tons, about 25 meters long, and can carry up to 90 passengers. As captain of a smaller archipelago boat, you get broad responsibility and play an important role in the guest experience on board.
You must meet the requirements for a medical certificate for seafarers.
Employment takes place from early June to the end of August.
For those who need it, coastal accommodation can be arranged outside Valdemarsvik. Simpler overnight accommodation on board may be available if needed.
The position suits both newly graduated and more experienced officers. We are also interested in contacting local officers who can step in as needed during the season.
