Gardener
Description
Mundekulla is a course farm in the heart of Småland, where we work to create a regenerative place for people, nature, and organizations.
The garden is a central part of the site's vision, and it is our ambition to become a role model when it comes to biodiversity and sustainability.
The garden consists of three integrated parts, which support the holistic experience we want to give our guests:
1. Syntropic Farming / Agroforestry / Tree farming
In 2025, we started our syntropic farming project in collaboration with consultants from Terra Network and co-financed with LEADER support for rural development.
We have planted 150 meters of fruit and berries in rows, densely interplanted with other plants such as herbs, shrubs, and trees. In 2026 and 2027 respectively, the cultivation will be expanded to a similar extent.
Here, the goal is to be able to harvest mainly fruit and berries, but at the same time develop a cultivation system that is sustainable, strengthens soil health, and the biodiversity on the site.
In 2026, our current gardener will oversee this project, and you who apply for the job will be involved during knowledge transfer with the consultants. This occurs monthly. From the autumn implementation onwards, you as the candidate will take over the main responsibility for this part as well.
2. Vegetable cultivation
Our vegetable cultivation is primarily aimed at the restaurant at Mundekulla, "farm to table" is the philosophy, and our guests can enjoy vegetables grown a few hundred meters away. Here, collaboration with the restaurant manager is important. You plan the cultivation to cover as much as possible of the restaurant's needs during the high season.
We also sell vegetable subscriptions during midsummer, which are picked up in our farm shop where we also sell vegetables loose.
Effective cultivation area is approx. 900m2, plus 120m2 effective greenhouse area. A small greenhouse should also be renovated and put into use.
It is a small-scale cultivation without extensive use of machinery. Here, your main focus will be during the season!
3. Guest garden and areas
There is a guest garden and various pots and beds that contribute to guests' experience of the place. These should be maintained, but it is also clear that we cannot spend too much time on them. Therefore, we try to establish simple routines and systems, plant hardy perennials, and simplify areas.
In addition to these three areas, we also have a volunteer project via the European Solidarity Corps; 8 young people will come to us during the summer and learn, among other things, about cultivation in the garden. Therefore, it is important that you in your work role feel comfortable teaching practical knowledge and guiding the volunteers in the work.
Qualifications
You who apply for the position should be well organized, and be able to streamline cultivation systems and reduce operating costs, communicate well, be transparent and preventive in your communication, and collaborate well with the rest of the working group within the company. You should have a good physique and be able to handle smaller machines and an active work role. The ideal candidate is accommodating, professional and has in-depth knowledge of relevant cultivation methods.
