Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating the vital change for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment educator at SiS is a meaningful challenge. SiS youth home Ljungaskog is planning to start a new unit in Helsingborg and is therefore seeking treatment educators for night work.

As a treatment educator at our discharge preparation unit, you will become an important part of the youth's path towards a more independent life. The unit is part of the institution, but you work closely with the youth in their daily lives in a residence outside the institution area. You work in a team together with other treatment educators, a group leader, and a treatment coordinator. The unit is led by a unit manager. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the youth living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need.

The unit is an open treatment unit and an important part of SiS's internal care chain aimed at a gradual and structured transition from care in an institutional environment. The focus is to support the youth in establishing and maintaining functional strategies and skills for a life outside the institutional environment. Treatment activities primarily consist of skills training aimed at preparing the youth for a functional life after discharge, both practically and socially.

As a treatment educator at night, you help youth get on the right path in life by being a secure and stable role model. You are responsible for the unit's safety during the night. The duty involves working alone on the unit and includes tasks such as supervision and documentation. The work requires a lot of independence, accuracy, and knowledge about work environment and safety.

This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable children and youth who are on their way back to a life outside the youth home. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Our vision is to be a place for change, and that permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.

Working hours are according to schedule. Evening and night depending on duty and schedule.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates theory with a supervised introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications for Treatment Educator

To succeed in your work, you have a firmly rooted positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in a vulnerable life situation and you share SiS's core values, to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are secure in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with youth as well as with others in the staff group. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and you can handle conflicts in a constructive way.

You should also have:

  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we consider equivalent.
  • Class B driver's license
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing
