Working at a Folk High School

A folk high school offers general courses and special courses. General courses are for those who have not completed high school or who wish to supplement and improve their previous knowledge. After completing studies, one is eligible to apply to vocational colleges, colleges, or universities. Special courses are those not directly preparatory for higher education, for example, music programs and video game education. Special courses can also be directly vocational, like our nursing assistant training. One of our general courses is aimed at individuals with autism spectrum conditions, ASC. All students at the folk high school are 18 years or older.

Social Educator

Working as a social educator with this mix of courses means being part of a whole. We are talking about a broad participant spectrum. The work is done in close collaboration with the teaching staff and administration. It is expected that one works in a resource team with a special educator and counselor.

We are looking for a team member with good interpersonal skills, who is open to working broadly and views the job from a holistic perspective. We want you to have post-secondary education or university education with a focus on social pedagogy. If you also have a subject qualification that fits the school, we view this positively. Preferably with a focus on sports and health. We prefer that you have experience from a folk high school.

Boarding School Supervisor

The boarding school is of great importance to the folk high school. For the participant, the boarding school contributes to part of the experience they carry with them after their studies at the school. We are looking for a person with social pedagogical experience or equivalent. Here too, it is expected that one works in a resource team with a special educator and counselor. Admission to courses where participants will live at the school is done in collaboration with administration, teachers, and the resource team.

The school has several events during the year and some rental of facilities for conferences and accommodation. This requires collaboration with virtually all areas of the school. Maintenance, administration, support staff, kitchen, teachers, and cleaning. Thus, a holistic approach to the physical aspects of the school that exist between the different professional groups.
