Montessori Droppen is an F-6 independent school (and preschool) in Haparanda town center, where one of the cornerstones of our pedagogy is "help me to find myself," as we see each child as competent with an inherent drive to become independent. Other fundamental ideas we adhere to and consider important are the interaction between adults, children, and a prepared environment for lifelong learning.

We are now seeking you who are a trained teacher in textile and sewing crafts and passionate about solving pedagogical challenges. We work together with the children for our shared work environment where everyone, both staff and students, should feel comfortable and safe.

Job description

For the 2026/2027 school year, we are looking for you who are qualified to teach textile and sewing crafts, have a norm-critical approach, and want and can adapt teaching based on the students' conditions. We see health promotion as an important part of our work to create the best conditions for each child to succeed in school and assume that you are broadly interested in health and its significance for school success. Your role includes planning and conducting teaching and developing the educational activities.

We want you to be characterized by curiosity, respect, and appreciation in your interactions with students, as well as in engaging with the pedagogy practiced at Montessori Droppen. It is positive if you have knowledge and/or experience of Montessori pedagogy, but above all, you should be interested and prepared to learn it. We have high goals for our work, not only for our students to achieve knowledge objectives but also for all children's well-being and security in school, and we want you, in collaboration with all other school staff, to work towards creating a school climate where students respect each other and give and receive work peace.

Qualifications

You are a licensed teacher and qualified to teach within textile and sewing crafts. Previous experience is meritorious.

Since the work is based on close collaboration with colleagues, the principal, and guardians, interpersonal skills and collaboration abilities are important qualities. Working effectively to achieve common goals is part of your daily routine. The role includes, together with others, finding creative and flexible solutions to meet the needs of individuals and groups, as well as creating forms for real influence for students in the school.
