Westra Sweden BDF Seeks Project Manager
Description
Project Manager for Safe Basketball
Westra Sweden Basketball District Association, WDBF
Swedish Basketball has developed a strategy with the goal areas 'to be, grow, and win' together.
We are now seeking a Project Manager for our Inheritance Fund Project Safe Basketball, at 50%
WBDF is one of Sweden's largest and growing basketball districts, covering Västra Götaland County and the municipalities of Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Falkenberg in Halland County. We are led by a board elected from the member associations and have our office in Västra Frölunda with three full-time employees. Our main areas of activity are competition, education, development, and association support, and we currently have 65 active basketball associations and about 8000 active basketball players in our district.
About the Project
Westra Sweden BDF, together with Skåne BDF, Småland-Blekinge BDF, and Stockholm BDF, has received funding from the Inheritance Fund to work on Safe Basketball over three years.
The concept of Safe Basketball is basketball's response to the Swedish Sports Confederation's Safe Sports.
This includes many components that together build a safe, creative, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in a sport, in this case basketball.
The project involves four district associations collaborating to develop a practical application (model) for basketball.
The project organization is managed by a steering group consisting of the district office managers, with participation and oversight from district boards and the Swedish Basketball Federation.
The operational work is planned, implemented, and evaluated continuously by an operational group consisting of a project manager/project leader (appointed by Skåne BDF, scope 80%) and a project manager from each district (Småland-Blekinge 25%, Stockholm 100%, and Westra 50%).
The scope for each district is set based on the district's operational extent.
Project Goals
The overarching goal is a functioning, equitable, and nationally anchored Safe Basketball model that increases safety, quality, and encourages more players, coaches, referees, and association members to stay longer in basketball.
Impact Goals for Westra Sweden BDF
Competence: At least 350 young coaches complete the Safe Basketball training package within 3 years
Retention: At least 1500 new members after 3 years
Equity: At least 25 associations hold Safe Basketball certification after 3 years
