Job Duties
Do you want to be involved in organizing and hosting events for and with the adult target group at Malmö City Library?
The adult section consists of 16 employees and a section manager. The section's mission is to create relevant and current activities for and with the adult target group of Malmö residents. Employees in the section collaborate with colleagues within the organization and with external partners as an important and natural part of the operations.
The adult section is now seeking a colleague who will focus on events and hosting through collaboration, both internally and externally. Events organized by the section include author talks, researcher talks, discussion circles, and much more.
As a library assistant, you will be part of the daily library operations together with other colleagues and actively contribute to developing the activities based on our goals.
As a library assistant in the adult section, you will:
- Have a particular focus on events together with other colleagues in the team
- Collaborate internally and externally through various events
- Host events, both self-produced and external
- Staff the City Library's various information desks according to schedule; evening and weekend duties are included in the position.
- Plan and carry out activities related to the adult section
- Work with the library's prioritized target groups
- Perform daily routines included in media management, service, and literature promotion
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have at least a three-year high school education and enjoy the service role. You are meticulous, attentive, and flexible, and have a friendly approach to interaction.
To succeed in the role, we see that you have:
- At least one year of documented experience working in a library, study association, or cultural events.
- Ease in collaborating and maintaining good relationships.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English.
Meritorious
- Education in project management, cultural studies, pedagogy, service management, event coordination, or social work.
- Work experience in project management or event coordination.
- Knowledge of Arabic or other major languages in Malmö.
About the Workplace
The City Library is centrally located in Malmö city center, next to S:t Petri School and Kungsparken. The City Library is divided into three different sections: children, youth, and adults. Together with colleagues from the management unit, the library is staffed and operated. The City Library is part of the Libraries in Malmö, which otherwise consist of 12 area libraries. Inside the City Library, there is the Roma Resource Library, which is one of Sweden's resource libraries linked to our national minorities.
The Culture Administration is one of Malmö City's 14 administrations. The Culture Administration consists of 8 departments that operate cultural activities (libraries, cultural school, Malmö Art Hall, Malmö Museum, Malmö Art Museum, cultural events & meeting places, city archives, culture & society including cultural support) and 4 departments that constitute the staff (administration, HR, finance, communication).
