Chef in a preschool kitchen
Description
Chef, Möllekullen Preschool
The Workplace
The parent cooperative Möllekullen was established in August 1992. A group of enthusiastic parents took the initiative and started a Montessori-inspired preschool on the outskirts of Vittskövle, with proximity to both meadows and forests. Möllekullen follows the Swedish National Agency for Education's curriculum and is inspired by Maria Montessori's view on children's learning. At Möllekullen, we want the children to develop into independent individuals with a positive attitude towards life, and establish a view of themselves as significant individuals and a resource on this planet.
The pedagogy of learning through play is something we strongly believe in. We run a preschool activity based on democratic values filled with understanding, compassion, and tolerance. Our operation should be fun, safe, and educational for our children. Möllekullen has a high staff-to-child ratio to be able to meet each child's needs, which also provides good opportunities for the individual development we want to create conditions for in the children. The kitchen is centrally located in our operation, meaning you will work closely with both children and other staff.
Work Tasks
As a chef at Möllekullen, you will work with common tasks in a preschool kitchen. You will prepare breakfast, snacks, and lunch for about 30 children and for the educators on duty, as we implement educational meals. We see you as a natural part of meal-related activities for our children and our educational meals, and we see that you, if needed, can also work in the children's group.
In addition to cooking, food handling, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning, you will also plan the menu, manage orders, and hold budget responsibility.
Qualifications
You are expected to have a genuine commitment to cooking that makes a difference in the children's daily lives, and your heart beats a little extra for working in an operation where the meal is an important part of the care, learning, and joy for the children. You work carefully and quality-consciously, with order and tidiness as a natural part of your professional pride. Thus, you are expected to have good knowledge of the Swedish Food Agency's regulations and be accustomed to working with self-monitoring.
You are expected to work according to our food policy, where nutritious and varied food cooked from scratch is served. We want to give our children homemade food that is Swedish-produced and, as much as possible, support our local producers with locally produced food.
To meet expectations, we are looking for you who have chef training or equivalent education/experience as well as a Class B driver's license. It is advantageous if you have previously worked in a preschool kitchen. We place great importance on personal suitability, work enjoyment, and loyalty.
