Do you want to help develop sustainable outdoor recreation in some of Sweden's most valuable natural and cultural landscapes? We are now seeking an outdoor recreation manager who wants to work close to nature while contributing to long-term societal benefits.
About the Role
As an outdoor recreation manager, your task is to plan, develop, and manage the Archipelago Foundation's outdoor recreation and leisure environments. The assignment aims to create accessible, safe, and attractive environments for visitors year-round, with consideration for natural and cultural values as well as applicable legislation. The role includes making the values of the Archipelago Foundation's areas visible and prominent, and being a clear ambassador for outdoor recreation in our areas. By creating engagement and interest in our natural environments, the role contributes to more people discovering the opportunities for recreation, nature experiences, and nature tourism in our areas.
The outdoor recreation manager's role alternates between long-term management and active development work. Once the basics are in place, the outdoor recreation manager contributes with energy, ideas, and drive to further develop the environments for outdoor recreation. You are adept at making contact, building relationships, and engaging both internal and external actors in joint initiatives. You see potential and opportunities in our areas early and turn them into concrete improvements.
The role also includes:
- Planning, coordinating, and monitoring the maintenance of trails, rest areas, docks, and other outdoor infrastructure
- Development of outdoor recreation
- Participating in the creation and implementation of maintenance and development plans for natural and cultural areas
- Collaborating with contractors, associations, landowners, and other actors
- Monitoring visitor pressure, wear and tear, and the need for measures for safe and sustainable outdoor recreation
- Contributing to dialogue with the public and stakeholders, for example during consultations, meetings, and tours
- Documenting the work in our digital systems and contributing material for decisions and reports
About You
You are structured and responsible with good ability to work both strategically and operationally within management. You are adept at building and developing networks and work in a relationship-building and collaborative manner. You are driven, solution-oriented, and accustomed to initiating and implementing development efforts. You communicate clearly and pedagogically and have a strong commitment to outdoor recreation, nature experiences, and sustainability.We believe you have:
- Good experience in management, maintenance, or development of natural and outdoor areas, preferably in the public sector
- Post-secondary education in e.g., nature conservation, forestry, landscape, outdoor recreation, urban planning, or similar
- Good knowledge of how various societal actors work with outdoor recreation (authorities, municipalities, outdoor organizations, etc.)
- Good knowledge of the Environmental Code and regulations for protected nature
- B driver's license access to a car for travel within the service
It is meritorious if you have experience in project management, procurement according to LOU, contractor contacts, and work with protected areas.
