Cook and childcare worker

Skatan is a well-functioning parent cooperative located in the heart of Bagarmossen, about 15 minutes from Slussen. The preschool has been operating for many years, with a stable and dedicated staff group and a sought-after program.

Skatan's activities are permeated by a holistic approach where parents and all staff work together to provide children with a variety of opportunities for challenge and stimulation.

There are 42 children, divided into three groups by age.

We are now looking for a new cook/kitchen staff member who also works a certain amount of time in the children's group as a childcare worker (approximately 75% in the kitchen and 10-15% in the children's group) and can prepare good, varied, and nutritious meals for our children and educators. The food should be primarily vegetarian (fish once a week) and awaken the children's appetite and curiosity. We have high environmental sustainability requirements, so organic ingredients are a prerequisite. We strive for minimal food waste and maximum recycling.

We are looking for you:

• who has a cook's education or documented experience in cooking in large-scale catering (using raw ingredients from scratch as much as possible).

• who has experience and familiarity with preparing vegetarian meals

• who is confident, engaged, responsible, solution-oriented, and positive.

• who has good proficiency in the Swedish language (speaking and writing at level B2 according to the GERS scale)

• who sees opportunities for children to participate in kitchen activities

• who wants to work part of your time in the children's group (approximately 10-15%)

• who can work on a schedule with working hours from 8 to 17

Job responsibilities:

Your task is to prepare lunch and snacks for our 42 preschool children and about 10 employed educators, as well as handle the dishwashing and some cleaning afterward.

You should plan weekly menus with nutritious and varied content and place orders from our food suppliers within given budget frameworks.

You should have good knowledge of food handling and hygiene according to HACCP and be able to perform self-control according to the Swedish Food Agency's regulations.

The job responsibilities also include working in the children's group for about 5 hours per week when regular educators have group meetings and attending a workplace meeting once per month.
