The ERK Foundation, which is an independent principal for the Swedish-Finnish school with grades F-6 and the preschool Pikku-Erkki, was founded in 1993. The operation is bilingual and non-profit.
Both operations are conducted at Vasbergsgatan 5 in Eskilstuna, a beautiful, centrally located, historic old school building. Together there are approximately 110 children enrolled in the operation (preschool and school) and approximately 25 staff. The foundation's task is to preserve and develop the Swedish-Finnish culture together with a high level in both the Swedish and Finnish languages. The goal is to teach children and students Finnish and Swedish at a level that enables active bilingualism and supports their Swedish-Finnish identity development.
Now we are looking for:
Wood and metal handicrafts teacher and/or textile teacher for middle school.
Job Description
Subject planning, teaching, documentation for development discussions, and grading for students in grade 6.
We are building our own handicrafts room during the spring and summer. Previously, we have rented other premises.
You are welcome to help influence how we can collaborate in a multi-room where several creative subjects can work together. Technology, textile, metal, and wood handicrafts initially. The collaboration takes place with our arts/crafts and technology teacher, property owner, and our own caretaker.
You collaborate with other teachers, student health services, and mentors.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have qualifications in the subject of handicrafts. The handicrafts position is 25% part-time. You are welcome to be qualified in additional subjects since we are a small school and would like to hire teachers who can teach more than one subject.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
Meritorious:
Our work and teaching languages are both Swedish and Finnish. For this position, good knowledge of Swedish is a requirement, knowledge of Finnish is not mandatory but is considered meritorious.
