Temporary Substitute Wanted for Art Café

Do you love people, encounters, coffee, and art? Do you have barista experience, are comfortable in the kitchen, independent, and able to work alone?

Then you are warmly welcome to Kahawa Art Café in the heart of Ljungskile.

In June 2025, we opened the doors to a completely new unique small café with art exhibitions and cultural events.

The café is located right in central Ljungskile within walking distance to buses and trains with good connections, proximity to beaches, natural areas, and a fantastic coastal environment. During the summer half of the year, it is a well-visited spot by both locals and tourists.

The concept is based on really good specialty coffee, delicious treats, sandwiches, and lunches prepared entirely from scratch on-site at the café.

Quality, sustainability, and generosity are central to our operations, and we have created a meeting place where visitors can feel at home, want to stay a while, or take away and receive a truly lovely personal service. We have regular events such as vernissages, live music, and art workshops.

We are looking for you who truly have a passion for really good service, high-quality specialty coffee, with an interest in baking and cooking, who is creative, independent, and likes to go that extra mile.

The role will include cash handling, coffee preparation, service, some baking and simpler cooking, dishwashing and cleaning with varying tasks and different high tempos depending on customer flow in the café. Therefore, it is desirable that you are independent, proactive, and take initiative to handle what needs to be done at the moment. Likewise, you are comfortable taking instructions and enjoy being part of a small, familiar team where we collaborate and complement each other.

It is important that you are comfortable being responsible for and running the café alone on days when needed.

Requirements:

You should be a person who loves meeting people and providing good and personal service, with great interest and skills in coffee, cooking, and baking. Barista experience in some form is a requirement, and you will receive training as needed.

You should have solid work experience in the service industry and/or bakery/café/restaurant sector, and therefore we encourage people of all ages and with different backgrounds to apply.

Since this is a temporary substitute position (primarily for staff illness), it is important that you are flexible and can step in at short notice—sometimes the same day. Therefore, we prefer applicants in the local area.

Desirable:

Comfortable speaking English with our international guests

Barista training, pastry chef/chef training

We serve breakfast on certain dates and would like you to be able to prepare this on early mornings (on-site from around 7:30)

B driver's license

What we offer:
