Åsle Independent School is now seeking a teacher for middle school grades 4-6 as the current teacher is moving too far away to commute to Åsle.

Åsle Independent School is located in the village of Åsle in the middle of the beautiful Falbygden region, about a 10-minute drive from Falköping. The school has just over 70 students distributed across preschool to grade 6, and we work in mixed-age classes. We are a non-profit independent school, meaning any surplus goes directly back into the operations and benefits our students. Since our start in 2021, we have steadily increased our number of children and students. In spring 2024, we expanded our educational activities by acquiring the neighboring house, which now accommodates after-school care and textile crafts. We are proud of our school and the operations conducted here today, where our vision clearly permeates the activities. Our operations are characterized by our three focus areas: Language and reading development, music and culture, and nature and outdoor education. We value the entire educational chain from preschool to grade 6 and work consciously to make the common thread visible.

Qualifications/competencies

We are looking for you who are a certified primary school teacher for grades 4-6 or preschool to grade 6. You have previous experience working as a primary school teacher, preferably with broad qualifications in multiple subjects. You are skilled at adapting teaching and building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.

You have a conscious thought about your role as an educator and are a clear leader who works in a structured manner based on a professional approach and current governing documents. You have the ability to create a good work climate with engagement, curiosity, and security in the group, and you see and meet students' different needs based on their varying conditions. You also have a positive attitude, a flexible work approach, good collaboration skills, and contribute to the development of the operations.

Your new job

You will be part of the preschool to grade 6 work team together with certified teachers experienced in teaching mixed-age classes. You work together on teaching and the students, and for the 26/27 school year, you will teach and have mentorship responsibilities for grades 4-6. Class composition varies from year to year depending on the number of students in each age group.

The teaching assignment includes planning and conducting teaching as well as documentation, evaluation, and development of pedagogical work. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in and contribute solutions and ideas for the operations.

The exact nature of your assignment in the school will depend on which subjects you are qualified in and what suits your competencies and experience.
