Bror Hjorth's House / Bror Hjorth Foundation
Bror Hjorth's House is a vibrant artist museum in Uppsala housed in the artist Bror Hjorth's former villa, with residence and studio. Bror Hjorth (1894-1968) is considered one of the foremost Swedish artists of the 20th century. The extensive collection of artworks together with the environment provides a unique insight into a rich artistic life.
In the museum's art hall, exhibitions with other artists are shown. The exhibitions are produced by the museum and change approximately every two months.
The museum has a very extensive art educational activity, primarily for children and young people, during both daytime and evening hours, and a rich program of activities with tours, lectures, and concerts.
Bror Hjorth's House is operated by the Bror Hjorth Foundation through operational grants from Uppsala Municipality. The foundation's task is to care for, preserve, and make accessible Bror Hjorth's art and the property. The staff consists of seven permanent employees at varying service grades and a group of hourly employees who work as museum hosts and art educators.
The museum has approximately 25,000 visitors/year.
Work Tasks
As a museum assistant, you have both administrative duties and work as a museum host in the museum during opening hours. You are the person who ensures that the museum's activities towards visitors run smoothly and in accordance with the museum's values and guiding principles.
The administrative work tasks include, among other things, scheduling staff for staffing during the museum's opening hours, for tours and program activities, being responsible for the shop, café section, and reception with ordering of goods, cash handling, reporting, and inventory management. You will also handle incoming bookings and incoming and outgoing invoices, answer and refer questions about the museum's activities and ticket sales, and assist with the museum's communication on the website and social media.
During certain times, you work as a museum host in the museum together with the hourly staff. You meet visitors at the cash register and in the museum, hold guided tours of the art in Bror Hjorth's home and studio and in the temporary exhibitions, and contribute to the museum being a welcoming place for all visitors. During periods with lower intensity of administrative tasks, the work as a museum host may become more frequent.
Qualifications

You have good knowledge of the office package and preferably experience working with social media. You are responsible and unbiased, with good organizational skills and good collaboration ability. The work also places high demands on service orientation, flexibility, and oral and written communication skills. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
