As a maintenance technician at Göta Canal, you will have a unique workplace in one of Sweden's most beloved cultural heritage sites and most visited destinations.
The role is varied and involves both independent work and teamwork, both indoors and outdoors. Our staff in Östergötland are based at our workshop in Ljungsbro and work along the stretch from Motala to Mem. The team currently consists of seven maintenance technicians and an operations manager responsible for daily activities.
The group is responsible for managing and developing the canal facility and waterway Göta Canal by performing the right maintenance at the right time. Mapping needs, planning, driving, and implementing preventive maintenance and renovation projects are part of the daily work. The goal is to operate the facility efficiently, safely, and with high availability.
Job duties
• Manage and develop the canal facility and waterway Göta Canal
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on bridges, locks, and hydraulic systems
• Participate in waterway work with a workboat in the canal's lakes
• Build and renovate lock gates, bridges, and hydraulic systems
• Maintain piers, guest harbors, control houses, and bridges
• Participate in on-call duty (one week at a time during May–September)
The position is full-time with a base location in Ljungsbro. Working hours are daytime (7 AM–4 PM) with overtime as needed. Salary is paid according to agreement, and start date is as agreed.

Desirable qualifications:
• BE driver's license
• Nautical competence (e.g., boat operator certificate, coastal skipper, or class 8)
• Welding, forging, and mechanical processing
• Fine carpentry
