Residential Support Worker, Night Services, for Vega's Operations
Description
Are you an engaged and competent person who wants to make a difference in people's lives? Vega Härskogen and Vega Kvikulla are seeking night-duty residential support workers for their respective operations who want to help create a safe environment where our clients can recover and establish conditions for a sustainable future.
As a night-duty residential support worker with us, you have a central role in maintaining continuity in the operation during some of the day's most vulnerable hours. You work independently, or together with a colleague, and have overall responsibility for ensuring the residential environment is predictable and safe for our clients during nighttime.
The work at Vega Härskogen involves awake night duty, while at Vega Kvikulla it means you have "sleeping on-call" for part of the night.
The role involves focusing on supervision, risk assessment, and being able to handle unexpected situations in a calm and professional manner. You are an important part in ensuring a cohesive support and care chain between day, evening, and night, and contribute to the clients' recovery by creating conditions for rest, safety, and structure.
The work places high demands on independence, own judgment, and the ability to act in accordance with the operation's routines and safety regulations.
The work involves
- Ensuring a safe and stable environment for our clients during nighttime through supervision, presence, and ensuring compliance with the operation's routines and working methods.
- Supervision and observation of the clients' current health conditions as well as being attentive to deviations and/or risk behaviors.
- Managing acute, challenging, and/or unexpected situations with support from the operation's routines.
- Working preventively by identifying risk factors and early indications of affective escalation or increased instability.
- Carrying out the work tasks scheduled for the night, such as administrative reviews, cleaning and maintenance routines, laundry, preparations for the next day, and general supervision routines according to an established checklist.
- Documenting client-specific activities, events, observations, and interventions according to current guidelines to ensure continuity and quality.
- Handing over relevant information to day staff to promote safety and cohesive support and coordination efforts.
We are looking for you who have
- Post-secondary education in health and medical care, care and social services, social work, or equivalent educational background and/or work experience.
- Experience working with individuals with psychiatric conditions, including substance use disorders, and/or persons with complex co-morbidity (meritorious)
- Competence and experience working based on low-affect approach or psychosocial work is an advantage.
Experience is important, but equally important is the ability to work independently, self-manage, and simultaneously be part of a whole together with other employees.
In addition to formal merits, great importance is placed on personal suitability – a professional approach, empathy, responsibility, professional integrity, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
You will fit well into the operation if you are a person who values respect, holism, and clarity in your work. We are looking for you who can work in a structured, individualized, and supportive manner, even in challenging and emotionally charged situations.
We offer
- Permanent employment starting with a probationary period of six (6) months (we are also interested in contacting you/those seeking hourly employment and/or summer substitutes)
- Meaningful work where you make a real difference in people's lives.
- Opportunity for continuous competence development through internal training and supervision.
- An independent and responsible role where you are an important part of the operation's continuity and quality across all hours of the day.
- A workplace characterized by respect, empathy, and a professional approach.
- Support from colleagues and an on-call manager in readiness, as well as access to established safety routines and working methods.
- Health and wellness allowance
Vega - All the way to recovery – with respect, empathy, holism, and clarity.
Vega operates supported housing services for individuals with substance use disorders (substance dependence/substance abuse), often combined with significant psychiatric and/or neuropsychiatric co-morbidity and social vulnerability.
We work goal-oriented and structured with the individual at the center. With us, you become part of an operation where quality, engagement, and professional treatment are crucial – where every meeting matters.
