School Counselor

Since our current school counselor is moving on to new adventures, we are seeking a new dedicated school counselor for our operations!

About Nature and Environment School:

Nature and Environment School in Åmål is an independent school that currently has over 150 students from preschool class to grade 6. The school has a waiting list of prospective students for the coming year and is a popular and attractive school in Åmål municipality. The school, which has a large nature schoolyard that encourages play and creativity, is centrally located in the urban area of Åmål.

Our profile, "Nature, health, environment - an ecological perspective," a deliberate values-based work and student development towards goals, are prioritized areas in our operations.

The assignment involves:

In our student health work, we want to focus on preventive and promoting efforts and actively work to develop this. As a counselor, you play an important role, as part of the school's student health team, in contributing to this development.

In addition to individual student and parent meetings, the assignment involves working with students in groups as well as overarching values-based and safety work. Based on your profession, you provide suggestions for appropriate measures, strategies, and methods to give students and groups tools for social development, increased goal achievement, and well-being. You will work in close collaboration with/guide other staff at the school and be responsible for certain investigation work. Nature and Environment School is part of Backa Barnet, and as part of this, you as a counselor may also collaborate with external actors, such as social services, healthcare, and BUP.

Qualification requirements and personal qualities:

For the position as school counselor, we are seeking you who:

• have a degree in social work, social pedagogy education, or equivalent.
• have the ability to see students' various needs and consider their individual conditions.
• choose to see opportunities instead of obstacles.
• have an open attitude and an inclusive approach.
• are confident and stable and find it easy to collaborate and build good relationships with both students, colleagues, and parents.
• are positive and solution-focused and have the ability to empathize with someone else's perspective or situation.

• sees opportunities and not difficulties in daily work.

Provided that the necessary decisions are made, we are seeking a school counselor for approximately 40-50% of a full-time position. Based on arrangements and needs, the scope may change. Working hours can, depending on the applicant's other conditions, be partly flexible. The position can advantageously be combined with other assignments, and you should be able to take on the role as a consultant.
