Personal Assistant as Needed - Olofström

I am a guy living in Olofström and I am a member of Blå Assistans because I want self-selected and self-managed assistance. Blå Assistans undertakes to be the employer for my assistants while I myself choose who I want them to hire. I schedule my assistance and decide on the work content for the assistants. My organization strives for both members, assistants, and administrative staff to have the competence required for their tasks.

Blå Assistans is a nationwide non-profit association run in cooperative form since 1994. The cooperative organizes personal assistance in accordance with the intentions of the LSS law, which gives people with disabilities the "right to live like others". Personal assistant is the service profession that supports a person with a disability to live the life they want to live.

Your employment includes participating in training required by the employer.

I want you who apply to be self-sufficient, reliable, take own initiatives, be patient, and be a non-smoker.

With me, it is important to have a balance between taking it easy and doing activities; you need to tolerate chlorine as I swim once a week, and you also need to tolerate pets such as dogs and horses as I ride. It is meritorious if you have experience with horses or are willing/have an easy time learning to be close to horses and everything around horses.

If you have experience with TAKK – Signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication, it is a plus. While TAKK is important, it is also important for me that you are attentive to my body language and learn to read me.

What can you expect happens with me?

I walk but need pushing, and for longer distances or if I am tired, I use a wheelchair.

I am a guy who likes activities but also needs to take it easy, where I need your help to ensure I get that balance. Since I like to go on activities, it is important that you have a driver's license and access to a car that we can use for trips together.

With me, you need to have some knowledge of cooking, cleaning, and be able to help me with showering and assistance with hygiene.

Since I work from 8:45 to 14:10 Monday to Friday, you start working at 14:00 and receive me when I come home, then you work from 14:10 to 8:45 with sleeping on-call between 00:00 and 06:00. The schedule will be divided among different assistants, so it is important to know how exactly you can work.

In early 2026, there will be an opportunity to work more hours as someone on the schedule will need to be off.

With me, you only work every other weekend as I am at my parents' home every other weekend. I will also celebrate Christmas Eve, Easter Eve, and New Year's Eve with my parents, so schedule changes will occur if it falls on your schedule.
