Teacher in Home and Consumer Studies
Description
Come and work with us starting from Fall 2026!
Dormsjö School is a small school with fantastic conditions. Here, about twenty students from different parts of the country live and study, primarily residing at our adjacent residential care home. It also occurs that students commute to and from school daily from nearby homes. We conduct teaching in small groups within three school forms: compulsory school, adapted compulsory school, and adapted upper secondary school. The students at our school often have one or more diagnoses within the neurodevelopmental spectrum, which we address with individually adapted teaching that few other schools offer. The school has a very high staff density, and we work in small groups or with individual teaching in a school environment tailored to the students' needs.
Dormsjö School is located in a beautifully natural setting by a lake, a short distance from Garpenberg. The school is owned by a non-profit foundation that has been on site for over 60 years. We are well-equipped with our own sports hall, forge, music room, auditorium, gym, and a brand-new Home and Consumer Studies classroom.
But it is the less visible conditions that truly constitute the school's strength. Here, each student meets the security and structure they need. Each student is seen by staff they can trust and gets the opportunity to develop at their own pace.
You will work as a teacher in home and consumer studies. You will be part of a work team with diverse backgrounds and qualifications but with a common goal: care for our students. We have frequent contact with each other through daily morning meetings and short communication channels. Since we are a very staff-dense school, you need to be comfortable with other staff being present during your teaching. As staff, you also have close contact with the staff at the five associated residential care homes on site.
We are looking for you who are a licensed teacher within compulsory school.
You have experience working in compulsory school and hold a teaching license. If you are trained in other subjects, it is meritorious. You should be confident in building relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have the ability to work independently and goal-oriented. We prefer that you have experience working with children in need of special support. Your interest in finding and developing the child's inner abilities, as well as your insight into how your approach affects the relationship with each student, are important qualities. Dormsjö School actively works with low-arousal approaches, and you need to be prepared to follow these principles in your relationships with the students.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
