Compulsory school teacher in Spanish, Gamlebyvikens independent school grades 6-9

Gamlebyvikens independent school is located in Gamleby, just north of Västervik. We are an independent compulsory school with a Christian profile, with about 80 students from preschool class to grade 9.

We are looking for you who want to become part of our school and our vision to create a safe school environment where students get the very best conditions to succeed with their studies. With our small teaching groups and active value-based work, we build an accessible learning environment for all students. Our operation should be small, family-like, and professional. The small format increases the opportunities to support students both in their studies and in social interaction. Going to school is not only about learning subject knowledge, but also about collaborating, challenging oneself, and growing as a person. Students need many adults around them who can guide them in all these learning processes, which is why we have relatively high staff density.

Work tasks

You will teach the subject Spanish in grades 6-9. The teaching time corresponds to approximately 30% of full-time. Here you will find just over 20 colleagues who are all passionate about our school. You all belong to the same work team, but you will also belong to a smaller subject team with other language teachers.

As a teacher, you are responsible for designing your teaching based on the curriculum's goals where you plan, prepare, conduct, and evaluate your own teaching. If you are new as a teacher, you will receive support from a mentor.

Qualifications

You have a teaching license with qualification for the subject modern languages Spanish in grades 6-9. Either you have qualification in another subject in grades 7-9 that you combine your position with us with, or the position means that you only teach Spanish. Previous work experience from working in a school is meritorious but not a requirement.

You have the ability to independently take responsibility for your teaching, but you are also an attentive team player who appreciates working according to sometimes shared methods. You do not only focus on your own teaching but contribute to creating a safe school by monitoring order, building relationships with students, and collaborating collegially to further develop the operation.

We believe that you appreciate working at a small school, where it requires everyone to contribute for the whole to function. We also believe that you appreciate our Christian profile. The school not only has the task of conveying subject knowledge but also has an educational role. The curriculum (Lgr22) is clear that the Swedish compulsory school should not be value-neutral, but should be based on the ethics inherited from Christian tradition and Western humanism. As a school with a Christian profile, this is central. We want to convey a perspective of seeing each other as unique, as inviolable, as free individuals who are equally valuable.
