Principal for Montessori Independent School Gotland - a small school with a big heart

Do you want to lead an established and well-functioning operation where safety, peace of mind, and a desire to learn are at the center?

We are now seeking a principal for Montessori Independent School Gotland. The position is full-time and permanent.

This is a unique opportunity to take over the leadership of a stable operation - with conditions for a secure start. The current principal, who has been active at the school for 29 years, will remain during a transition period to ensure a good introduction.

About the role

As principal, you have the overall responsibility for the preschool, school, and after-school care operations, staff, and development. You lead the pedagogical work and ensure that the operation follows both governing documents and the basic principles of Montessori pedagogy.

You work closely with the staff in a small organization with short decision paths and great opportunity to influence.

We value close and present leadership. We therefore view positively that you as principal also teach to some extent, as it contributes to stronger relationships with children, students, and colleagues.

About the operation

Montessori Independent School Gotland is Gotland's oldest independent school, founded in 1996. We are located in the A7 area in central Visby.

• Approximately 75 students in the school
• Approximately 25 children in the preschool
• Approximately 60 students in after-school care
• Approximately 20 employees

In 2025, the middle school moved into newly built, modern premises in the main building, so now all operations are gathered under the same roof.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• have a higher education degree in pedagogy
• have experience working in preschool or school
• are a clear and present leader with good collaboration skills
• have a structured way of working and the ability to create engagement

Principal training is meritorious, but not a requirement - we offer training for the right person.

Experience with or interest in Montessori pedagogy is a prerequisite.
