Lagnö Barn is seeking a new principal!

Since our dear principal Tove has taken a job in graduate education, we are now looking for a new person to join our wonderful team.

On an idyllic farm, surrounded by sheep, chickens, forest, and sea, lies the parent cooperative Lagnö Barn. Over 40 years ago, the preschool was started by the farm's families and is today run jointly by the principal, an engaged staff group, and a parent-led board.

Participation is a fundamental pillar – through board work, maintenance days, and parental involvement in the children's groups during the terms.

Here, you will encounter a warm, cozy atmosphere where it is easy to build good relationships with both children and adults. There are present educators, engaged parents, and a community that wants the best for the children.

About our operations

At Lagnö Barn, outdoor activities are a big part of the operations.

We grow vegetables, curiously follow the sheep's lambing, and the older children help with sheep care. Year-round, we are in the forest and by the sea as part of our outdoor environment. We have a workshop for construction play under development and a large, lovely garden-like yard for play and outdoor activities.

Our cook prepares all food from scratch with a focus on organic, locally sourced ingredients. We have about 30 children divided into two groups. The younger children have their activities on the lower floor, while the older children are on the upper floor. Among the staff, we have two preschool teachers, four childcare workers, and a cook.

The assignment

We are seeking a principal at 40% who wants to help further develop our operations and preserve the strong foundation already in place. As principal, you have overall responsibility for leading the preschool's operations, staff, finances, work environment, and systematic quality work. You work in close collaboration with the board, which also oversees the overall cooperative work.

The role includes:

leading APT meetings (once a month) and participating in board meetings (once a month)

collaborating with external actors in Trosa municipality

leading employees and conducting employee interviews, etc.

having contact with guardians and children

As principal at Lagnö Barn, you have a varied and meaningful role where you alternate between being operational and strategic in management, development, and administration.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have/are:

principal education or enrolled in a principal program

documented leadership experience within preschool

good ability to plan, lead, follow up, and develop operations

confident in making decisions while being attentive to others' perspectives

accustomed to working systematically and quality-driven

structured, self-reliant, and have good collaboration skills

Preferably a passion for nature, animals, and outdoor pedagogy.

Meritous is experience working in a parent cooperative, creative activities, and construction play.

You see the children and staff as equally important parts of the preschool's whole and lift their competencies. You are a present leader with the ability to create both engagement and job satisfaction.
