CNC Operator in Sign Production

About the Company

Skyltdepån manufactures signs and sign systems for both indoor and outdoor use. Production at the factory near Norrköping Airport has a dominant focus on small and customized series. We are the customer's technical partner to achieve a design based on the customer's sketch/drawing. The factory's production has the capability to manufacture signs from start to finish. Work takes place in five process steps from CNC milling, foiling, sheet metal work, powder coating, and assembly. All roles are characterized by good craftsmanship and high responsibility for quality. Thirteen employees are distributed across different roles, each with established routines to handle the large variation present. The product portfolio has over ten categories, providing sufficient expertise for inquiries from all over Sweden. The industry is characterized by short delivery times, customized signs, and high finish. Skyltdepån has customers throughout Sweden and has, for example, manufactured new signs for Strawberry Arena (formerly Friends Arena) and Tre Arena (formerly Tele2 Arena).

We are now seeking a replacement for the CNC Operator role for immediate work.

Your Responsibilities

The role of CNC Operator is characterized by small series, which provides great variety in daily tasks and constant new programming/preparation that needs to be planned. Main materials in production include milling of aluminum and acrylic in sheet format. All materials require good planning to optimize material waste and maximize machine time. Drawings are excluded (none exist); instead, we work entirely based on the customer's original digital file. Design solutions are based on our own standard solutions applied per order project through internal preparation (CAD) in a step before your work begins. Signs have recurring similar design solutions despite different projects. You are expected to handle selected programs within CAD and CAM that are unique to the graphic industry and our bed milling machine with vacuum table.

A new CNC milling machine is planned for installation next year, and training will be offered to the new operator when the time comes. There is an exploratory and curious interest in producing illuminated profile letters with 3D printing. The first attempts have been completed, and dialogue with selected customers exists to see if 3D printing can be adapted for our industry as well. You are expected to lead the development of production when relevant.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have education in CNC milling or can demonstrate experience in a similar machine area. As the only CNC operator, you are expected to be responsible and fully manage the work within your area. Work is done in collaboration with colleagues, but you will handle daily tasks almost exclusively independently, with deadlines to serve details to your colleagues.

You have a demonstrated interest in technology and construction in general. Handling many different technical solutions is considered easy, and you have insight into the overall requirements of your area. The work has great variation in manufactured details and small series. You are expected to report in the internal system for order management.

The workplace is characterized by a balance of men/women from young to older ages. Work is conducted in a single shift. Training in design solutions and programming takes place on-site as a start to the work.
