Your Mission

Do you want to become part of Sätergläntan?

WE are looking for two new teachers in woodcraft with good knowledge of folk crafts and their cultural history. We are seeking one teacher at 40% employment rate and one head teacher with planning responsibility at 50% employment rate.

You have documented teaching experience and are accustomed to working with traditional hand tools, including sharpening and tool maintenance. You can also work with machines such as band saws and thickness planers. In this position, you will also teach color and form as well as materials science. You will also supervise your students in theoretical and written work. Experience with higher education is therefore advantageous.

As one of two head teachers in the woodcraft education program, you are responsible for carrying out the teaching within the framework of the program's curriculum. You will be part of Sätergläntan's teaching team and collaborate with your teaching colleagues as well as with external guest teachers. The work also includes maintenance of the premises and its equipment, material purchases, planning, and participation in workplace meetings. You are solution-focused, have a sense of responsibility, and want to contribute to promoting the entire cultural environment at Sätergläntan.

About Sätergläntan

Sätergläntan Institute for Crafts and Handicrafts is located in Insjön, Dalarna, and is an educational institution for programs in weaving, sewing, wood, and forging. Shorter courses in various craft and handicraft techniques are also offered. Sätergläntan plays an important role in the work of preserving, developing, and using cultural heritage and craft traditions, both artistically and technically. Entrepreneurship and product development are also important components of the long-term programs. Skilled and experienced craftspeople, artisans, designers, artists, and other cultural workers are affiliated with Sätergläntan as educators, lecturers, and inspirers.

Qualifications

• Relevant education, preferably from craft and handicraft programs, university, or college
• Experience in pedagogical work
• Computer proficiency and experience working in digital systems
• You can express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish and English
• Journeyman and Master certificates are advantageous

Permanent 40% and 50%, with start for the autumn term during week 32.
