MALMÖ CITY THEATRE SEEKS TAILOR
Description
Malmö City Theatre is one of Sweden's leading city theatres with a mission to create drama that moves, reflects our time, and invites new perspectives. With four stages, a studio, and a rich repertoire of performances for both children and adults, we are a cultural institution in constant motion. Here, about 90 people work – from actors and technicians to administrators and communicators – together to make theatre accessible and relevant to a broad audience. We aim to be the theatre for the entire city – an open meeting place for drama, curiosity, and community.
We are now seeking a ladies'/menswear tailor for a 100% permanent position at Malmö City Theatre's tailoring department.
YOU WILL:
As a tailor, you will work with both cutting and sewing for ladies and menswear and be responsible for independently carrying out assigned tasks. You are part of the costume department, which, besides you, consists of four tailors/costume coordinators and two costume technicians. You report to the head of masks and costumes.
In addition to the above tasks, you should be able to perform patina work with the possibility for further development in the area of patination. You should also be able to assist the costume technicians as dressers during performances as backup during holidays or illnesses.
YOU AS AN APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE:
· At least three years of sewing education and a couple of years of experience from theatre operations or similar.
· English in speech and writing
· B driving licence (not a requirement)
WHO YOU ARE
The theatre is an environment where no day is the same as another, which places high demands on stress tolerance, humility, and flexibility. We are looking for someone who contributes to a positive work climate, is meticulous, and takes responsibility. You are communicative and service-oriented. You are solution-oriented and have a good ability to work both independently and in a team.
We value the qualities that an even age and gender distribution, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, bring to the theatre, so we actively seek individuals with experiences and backgrounds that can complement our creative collective.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The position is a permanent 100% employment starting with a 6-month probationary period.
