About the Position
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, and managing household operations at Snäckan. The work includes managing resources such as finances and time to achieve desired goals within the operations, as well as being responsible for cleaning, cooking, and ongoing maintenance. The work also involves contributing to a good atmosphere in the workplace and ensuring that employees enjoy and feel well at work.
We are looking for someone who truly enjoys cooking and taking care of a large household. You who have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly solve challenges. You who are open, honest, and have a curious approach. You who can both pitch in a little extra when needed and take responsibility for your own recovery and rest. We also welcome a humble attitude and willingness to both collaborate and ask for help when needed.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Cooking:
- Prepare nutritious meals using primarily Gotlandic and Swedish ingredients.
- Ensure careful and efficient handling of leftovers and their use.
Cleaning:
- Ensure good order and hygiene in all kitchen areas, especially in connection with cooking.
- Ensure efficient and thorough cleaning as well as other tasks related to the facility as a whole.
Purchasing:
- Ensure efficient purchases of household goods based on planned operations.
- Ensure purchases of primarily Swedish (preferably Gotlandic) ingredients. Balancing is done against the budget.
- Ensure purchases of both efficient and environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Maintenance:
- Ensure that the kitchen and dining room are in good condition and that any problems are addressed continuously.
- Ongoing communication with the caretaker at Snäckan to secure maintenance and continuous improvements of the facility.
Organization & Planning
- Plan and prioritize your own tasks effectively as well as distribute tasks to other staff.
- Ensure structure and order by organizing and maintaining tidiness.
- For group bookings, coordinate regarding meals at least 4 weeks before arrival and thereafter have ongoing contact to ensure that requests are met.
Service & Interaction
- Contribute to a welcoming, open, and warm atmosphere for guests and colleagues.
- Build good relationships with colleagues.
- Address any uncertainties and friction with the manager as soon as they arise.
Formal Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience in operating large kitchens.
- Experience in the entire cooking chain, from menu planning to serving nutritious and good food.
- Knowledge of and experience in food hygiene.
- Basic computer skills to handle administrative tasks such as orders.

About Snäckan
Snäckan has a calm and beautiful location on Gotland's west coast, about 3 miles south of Visby, on the outskirts of Klintehamn. We have a total of 84 beds distributed across 10 6-bed cabins, 3 camping cabins, and 4 rooms. In addition, we have a gathering hall, conference room, and café/dining room with a modern kitchen. We also offer campsites for caravans and tents as well as parking spaces. At Snäckan, there is also a café, kiosk, football and beach volleyball court, disc golf, playground, mini-golf course, proximity to swimming, and opportunities for beautiful nature experiences. During the pre- and post-season, we receive groups with full and half board. Snäckan is owned and operated by the congregations within Equmeniakyrkan on Gotland.
