About us: We are a small parent-cooperative preschool with about 30 children aged 1 to 6 years and 10 educators. We are located on the outskirts of Irsta, with nature right at our doorstep. We have a large, lovely yard with our own barbecue area and a wind shelter. A great foundation for someone who wants to cook outdoors on sunny spring days.
As a preschool, we have a strong interest in children's food. We want the children to have the opportunity to expand their palate by eating varied and diverse meals. The food should be well-prepared from scratch, with a lot of vegetarian, locally grown, and organic ingredients.
We would like to see collaboration between the chef and the educators, where we can, for example, have theme weeks that span both education and food.
For us to enjoy working together, it is essential that you have interest and engagement in your work and that you can envision working in a small workplace where children and adults coexist.
What we can offer you is great freedom to manage your own work without stress. You plan, order, and prepare the food based on your own ideas. We are not a large workplace, which means we are close to each other and have fun at work.
Job duties: Your responsibilities include planning, ordering, and preparing food from scratch. You will prepare three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and a snack. After all meals, dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen according to environmental and health regulations are included. You are responsible for self-inspection, staying updated on food laws, and quality assurance according to HACCP. The children will be part of your daily life, as they enjoy meeting the chef with a smile.
Outdoor cooking may occur after joint decisions. We like to eat outside occasionally during the warm season.
Qualifications: We expect you to have a Restaurant and Food Education (3-year program) or equivalent, as well as work experience from a kitchen. You need to have knowledge and experience in children's dietary and nutritional needs. You should have good cooking skills, including in special diets. Knowledge in IT and kitchen operations with an economic mindset is also required. You should also be environmentally and health-conscious.
We are looking for someone who is engaged, independent, and has good collaboration skills. You should have a holistic view of children, diet, and the environment and understand the importance of good quality in children's food. You must have a genuine interest in cooking from scratch with locally grown and organic products. The food should be vegetarian several days a week.
You are flexible, meticulous, positive, and collaborate easily. It is beneficial if you see new development opportunities in your work and in thoughts with the educators regarding children's food. Our goals and guidelines should align with your perspective on food and operations.
