Teacher in Music (Substitute Position 100%) School Year 2026/2027

BMSL is a multilingual preschool and elementary school with instruction according to the Swedish curriculum. From one year of age to ninth grade, our students pass through the same door here in central Lund. This provides security and continuity for both students, teachers, and parents. Perhaps that is an explanation for why many students see the school as their second home. Well-being and community are important to us. We want to be the school that students long to attend. At BMSL, students encounter a multilingual and international environment. Here, teachers speak Swedish, English, and French – and through our language immersion method, students have the opportunity to develop their language skills in a natural way. This means that the French teacher always communicates in French and the English teacher always in English, regardless of whether the meeting takes place in the classroom, during after-school care, in the hallway, or outside during break. Our language educators have the language as their mother tongue and provide students with an authentic language experience every day.

In addition to language immersion, we work with Montessori pedagogy as one of several tools to help students achieve the goals in the curriculum. But above all, our ambition is to give each child the best conditions for the future – by offering a stimulating learning environment, creating security, and sparking curiosity. Our driving force is to provide students with the tools they need to develop their full potential.

Today, there are 44 children in preschool and 420 students in elementary school grades F-9. Educators and children/students come from different countries and diverse cultures. BMSL is a very stimulating and dynamic workplace.

We are now seeking an engaged and inspiring music teacher for a substitute position full-time (100%) during the school year 2026/2027. The position includes teaching in grades 2–9 starting in August 2026.

About the Position

As a music teacher with us, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on music instruction according to the current curriculum. You teach students of various ages and contribute to sparking their interest in music, creativity, and creation. The role also includes leading musical activities such as ensembles, performances, Lucia, and end-of-year celebrations.

You collaborate closely with colleagues and actively participate in the school's development work. Mentorship may be included in the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• Teacher certification with a focus on music, or equivalent education
• Experience in music teaching, preferably in grades 2–9
• Good knowledge of music theory and the ability to teach one or more instruments

It is advantageous if you have:

• Teacher registration
• Montessori education
• Experience in ensemble or choir leadership
• Familiarity with digital tools in music teaching

You have an inclusive approach and adapt teaching to students' different needs and conditions. Furthermore, you are cooperative, flexible, and contribute ideas and energy to the organization.
